This site: https://www.coolgunsite.com/pi...olt%20production.htm Indicates: 410450 would be a Colt frame from 1913 built for the Navy. 1648878 would be a 1944 Colt frame. The mismatched slides and frames are typical of military 1911s and 1911A1s. Over time, worn and broken parts would be replaced by combined with parts from other broken guns.

add to that, cleaning parties, as in some folks get together to clean the pistols in the armory and they don't care which slide went on which frame, as long as it is clean, https://chandlersfirearms.com/chesterfield-armament/

410450 is no where near close to a 1913 serial number - 1918 era. During this time, guns were NOT shipped in co seductive serial number order due to war pressures that serial number could have shipped to /on: 8/12/18 Bush Terminal Brooklyn (5000 shipped) 8/12/18 1400 Brooklyn Navy Yard (1400) 8/16/18 pier 4 Hoboken NJ ( pistols for sales to officers) 8/19/18 bush terminal (10000) Shame the UNITED STATES PROPERTY mark has been removed from frame. This message has been edited. The other frame September 1944. As mentioned mis matched to other makers slides, common with cleaning parties or field or depot rebuilds. I didn’t see any rebuild marks but not all depot overhauls are marked

As a 1911 fanatic I am super JELLY! For ME: DA/SA=Sig 9mm or HK P30 LEM 9 Striker fired= Glock 9mm If it's a .45= 1911 Suppressed= HK in .45 I like anything in 10mm

It appears you did the exact same thing I did in the other recent M1911 thread... You overlooked one of the digits in the serial. A 41,000 serial would be 1913. But a 410,000 serial is 1918.

"Shame the UNITED STATES PROPERTY mark has been removed from frame" You think that was there at some point? More than a few, less than others!

Thanks for the info guys A wee bit of history for these guys. I will do a FOIA request and see what I can find out. Are the slides 1911 or 1911A1? I will take the barrels out and post pics of those soon. More than a few, less than others!

"Shame the UNITED STATES PROPERTY mark has been removed from frame" You think that was there at some point?[/QUOTE] It is GHD which is Guy H Drewry the government officer in charge of inspecton at that point in production. P is the standard proof testing mark applied to all 1911A1’s The 410 series 1911 would DEFINITELY have started life with UNITED STATES PROPERTY marked on the left side of the dust cover ( the standard location until very late 1918 when it was moved to above the serial number) in your left side frame picture, you can even see evidence of polishing where the mark was removed. On some guns the removal was so expertly done it is hard to tell but if you take the field stripped frame and look at it from the front ( muzzle end view) you can often see the left side of the dust cover being thinner than the right. Also on your pictures, look at the right side picture how the curve of the dust cover starting at the trigger guard has a smooth even arc, while on the left there is something of an angle after the curve instead of a straight line

Slides are A1 WWII era. FOIA unlikely give any useful info. The FOIA only go back to the mid 1970’s when pistol inventory became computerized- and I suspect these two guns were out of government hands long before that
