Why are most (of the fcu's sold separately) P320 fcu's gold/titanium colored? I have seen just a couple of them that were silver or natural color.

“Most”? Confused

I have seen ~25 P320 receivers, and the single one in my personal experience with the gold colored finish is/was the “Custom Works” version that SIG is selling separately for users to put together with slide assemblies and grip modules of their choice.

Which ones or how many have you seen?

Most of the FCU's that come up on a 'google' are the 'gold' ones from Sigs "Custom Works", do they put out many that are "white"? Why did they pick "gold" finish, to make it look fancy?

It's not "most", by a long shot. Rather, nearly all are silver/stainless.

The special gold/tan-colored Titanium Nitride "Custom Works" version is only a tiny fraction of total FCU production.

This is the standard P320 FCU, used 99.9% of the time:

What we find with an Internet search using Google is not necessarily representative of the whole or even the most. I suspect the search results are strongly skewed by the fact that the Custom Works version is the only one that’s offered for sale by the factory and therefore by the many vendors of SIG parts. There are a few complete FCUs or stripped receivers offered on various sites, but those would mostly be ones that had been removed from complete guns.

As for “Why?” my suspicion is to make the Custom Works FCUs more distinctive and perhaps more appealing to people who like fancy looks. I doubt, though, that anyone who wasn’t involved in the decision process knows for certain.

That was the answer I was looking for. That's what the "Custom Works" sells. Thanks.

Definitely on the 'distinct' portion; the titanium/gold does make it easy for a consumer to distinguish the FCU as the actual SIG sku'd item rather than some takeoff unit that the internet profiteers and pistol 'chop shops' are rife with these days.
