What a beautiful collaboration of S&W revolver photos, Gentlemen! These revolvers are iconic in our minds because so many of us learned all the fundamentals of handgun shooting with them when we were young. I can still remember the serial number of my first revolver- a S&W .38 special model 15 "Combat Masterpiece. I shot this gun a lot in high school with the local ROTC. I owned several model 19's after that. My Alaska flyfishing (bear protection) revolver is a John Ross S&W Performance Center .500 Magnum with a 5" barrel. Perhaps my favorite vintage S&W revolver is my 1983 S&W nickel plated model 57 .41 magnum with a 6" barrel. It came in a gorgeous mahogany and blue velvet presentation case, and still shoots very accurately.

I don't consider myself a revolver guy, but I'm partial to S&W pre-lock revolvers, and I HATE the Hillary hole. ![]() I told myself that if a nice pinned & recessed K-frame came along at the right price, I'd get scoop it up. Well, this past Sunday was that day, so I've joined the Model 19 owners club! In the spirit of this & the 'What Happened To Blued Revolvers?' thread, here's my new-to-me 19-4 w/ original box. According to the serial# list at S&W Forums, it's c. 1979. ![]()

Late last month at work I picked up a 15-3 to replace a 15-2 that I sold under duress (ex-fiancée that never got further) in 1976. Not that common around here so when this one came in, bit of holster wear, poor condition Magna grips, spot of rust on the left side above the trigger guard and some freckles on the side plate. Bore clean, lockup tight, smooth trigger, I decided I could live with the nicked front and rear sight blades, apparently dropped once before, I suspect it was a duty gun at some point. Took it to the range, concerned about keyholing and accuracy. It passed the test. Took it home, touched up with Oxpho Blue, through cleaning, a set of used Magnas I had laying around. Gotta find some K Frame Target Grips now to match what my 15-2 had on it when it was sold. -------------------------------------—————— ————————--Ignorance is a powerful tool if applied at the right time, even, usually, surpassing knowledge(E.J.Potter, A.K.A. S&W Model 19 with 4" barrel is a superb handgun. The classic look is one that appeals to me. Fun to send a 158gr round down range is a blast. U.S. Army 11F4P Vietnam 69-70 NRA Life Member

I think the Model 19 4” was the first revolver I ever purchased. That would have been in 1972 or 3. I shot it when I was in the academy and kept my issued Model 15 in relatively new condition and clean for inspections. Initially, I carried it on patrol but went to a 6” and sadly sold it. I have owned several Model 19s & 66s - 2½, 4 & 6” over the years. Fortunately, I was able to replace my 4” with a S&W 357 Combat Magnum, serial #: 2603**. It is in nice shape and had been carried by one of our past County Sheriffs. I agree with the sentiment of this thread, Smith & Wesson Revolvers are classic, especially for those of us who carried them on duty. I would like to add a couple more to my small collection. And, I would love to own another 4” Model 19, especially in as nice of shape as some of those displayed above. This is not a solicitation but simply intended as a compliment to whose who have shared. Not much of a revolver guy but have had my fair share roll in & out of my life over the years. All S&W's, save for two Colts. Apart from my 3" heavy barreled model 10 this 625-3 is my favorite. ![]() Rom 13:4 If you do evil, be afraid. For he does not bear the sword in vain. What model is that? I take it some variant of the 686+? I really like that setup, especially that rear sight in the second pic.

Delta-3, What grips are on that 625? Do they have some “width” to them? Look like Hogues maybe? I am looking for a wider grip for an N Frame. Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

I've probably shot this gun more in the last 3 years than any gun I own, save maybe my dove hunting shotgun. 686 No Dash ![]() I'm gonna vote for the funniest frog with the loudest croak on the highest log.

It is a 686+. I got a pretty good deal on it in the classifieds here several years ago so I sent it off to the Performance Center for a Combat Revolver Package. It was worth every penny. The bead blast is nice, much better than the factory brushed finish. The trigger is really amazing, especially the double action; it's so smooth, better than the off-the-shelf Performance Center triggers I've owned or messed with. The rear sight is an LPA. It came on a 627 PC I bought used. When I sold the 627 I kept the sight & put it on here. ![]() ============================================ Photographs: https://photobucket.com/u/photoman12001 ----------------------------------- Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/photoman12001/ ----------------------------------- YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/photoman12001/videos

^^^ Fantastic gun; that bead-blast treatment is a favorite of mine. "The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli." - George Costanza

More 1954-vintage 3-1/2” .357 Magnum action (“pre-Model 27”). I’ve been told that a bullwhip would have been a nice addition to these shots LOL… ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() "The sea was angry that day, my friends - like an old man trying to send back soup in a deli." - George Costanza

My only S&. Pre-model 10 circa 1947. They are the best functional art form. Beautiful revolvers in this thread. Saw the Model 642 snubby in the movie Knowing. Damn, I would add a caliber for that. ![]()
