Found a SIG 226 DA/SA for IDPA been using my 229 SAO which is ESP 10+1 and 10 rounds only. Now I have a SSP 15+1 and 15 rounds in the mags, not so many mag changes. First thing I did was modify the slide lever. The night sights are no more but only using in day light, now I have to get use to the DA long pull. Might go down the 18lb or 19lb hammer spring swap. I also replaced the horrible E2 grips with some original plastic with the lanyard holder on the bottom. The half life of tritium is 12.3 years. The gun is only 7 y/o, so the NS shouldn't be no more. The intensity might have diminished a little, but it shouldn't be totally dark. If they're completely dark, then they are defective. Q

Good move on the E2s! Better yet are the Hogue G10s, I find the factory slabs a bit lacking in grip.

Thank you for the comments! I can see a pin hole of light on the night sights even being blasted by light. If it was to be used as a house gun there would a Surefire attached. The grips are old and thin and not much thicker than the E'2 and the grips on my 229 Legion; plus the tool was missing. What a pain to remove and reinstall the grips without the grip tool; the used grips were less expensive than a grip tool. I have several 9mm mags due to having a 226 ELITE SAO. 20's 17's and 15's thanks for the advise. Grips are not original to the gun. Forget what I said. Brain fart. No coffee, yet, this morning. Q

Mea Culpa I should have said GRIP manufacture date, any idea which date is correct? July 2011 or November 2007. The outer circle represents the months. Arrow points to the exact month. The center is the year. So yes, the grips are almost 17 y/o. Q

I know a gun with the 'W' starting character in the SKU is allocated only for the LE/first responder/Mil market, but is there any actual functional and/or physical differences between a WE26R and the normal E26R that is for the civilian market? -MG

None, except that they sometimes have a 3rd mag in the package. Q

The things that get brought to light. The 226 came with 2x15 9mm magazines. It was a private sale I do not know what occupation the owner had; his son sold it to me after his dad's passing, it was nearly new. Had the original grease, well it looked nearly new when I stripped and inspected it. First outing with the 226 shot a Steel Challenge yesterday nice smooth action even in DA, missed the 8" plate on the first squeeze of the trigger in DA but hit the plates after that in SA. Second set was better but still shooting at 7 o'clock third much better. Maybe a lighter hammer spring or practice and get the gun broken in but 9mm is expensive now I do not have the income I used to have.
