Concealment holster that fits a 2" belt? Login/Join

In a surprising turn of events, I joined the TXSG and during the JAG briefing he mentioned that we can carry concealed unless on Federal property or specifically requested not to in our orders.

Cool

Now the issue.. the rigger belt I wear in uniform is 2" wide and I am having a hell of a time trying to find anything even remotely concealable that fits a 2" belt. Currently using a ALS paddle and while it does not fit perfect the friction holds it quite well.

Does anyone make a OWB holster that conceals AND fits a 2" belt? I might just modify one of my kydex holsters with 2" loops but I would rather just find a separate holster.

I could just go with a belt that is less wide but since the belts one of the better ones that is actually rated and it looks like I will be one of the instructors for the upcoming SAR training...specifically on rope work and basic rescue at heights it makes since to just find a holster.

Also do we have any members that do custom kydex work? looking to design something that takes up less space on my belt.

Seriously I don't know how you LEO carry everything you need on a belt....especially if you have a waist under 36" Roll Eyes

I don't understand "OWB holster that conceals." Do you mean an OWB holster that rides closer and higher, and is therefor more easily concealable under a cover garment? Because no OWB holster conceals well, by definition.

Secondly: I think you may be asking for two conflicting things: More easily concealed (rides closer and higher) and takes up less space on belt. The problem is: For a holster to ride higher, be closer, and be stable, it has to have a bigger footprint on the belt--usually in the form of wings or other stabilizing elements. At least from what I've seen.

Yes on the first question, similar to a pancake or such.

Regarding the 2nd point it was not in reference to the holster but all the ancillary stuff I carry

As to OWB not concealing well, I carried that way in plainclothes all my 37 year career without any issues.

My first recommendation you've already knocked out: a paddle holster. While I'm not a fan, they are the only style I know of that is not dependent on a specific belt width.

Have you looked at https://www.thewilderness.com/...concealment-holster/

Based on your post it might fit the ticket, but I'm unsure what width their loop is. The website shows a seatbelt being passed through, so it's probably very close to 2 inches. It's not exactly a concealment holster in the conventional sense, but hey, it's an option. They advertise their rig as being used by SAR groups.

When I started my career I had a 32 inch waist and very single inch of Sam Browne belt was occupied. Towards the end I had a temporary assignment back into uniform, and while I had expanded considerably so did the junk I had to carry, and it was no fun whatsoever.

TT Gunleather is my go-to for holsters, and assuming you would be satisfied with leather you may want to reach out to Tim the owner and see if he'd do something semi-custom for you.

Try Alan at Phalanx Concealment. He only shows 1.75" loops but has an awesome paddle holster that would work....and I bet would do a custom loop size for you. I have a couple of his holsters and are the best kydex setups I have ever used. Mine have leather lining as well to help keep from marring gun finish and provides little more grip on weapon. Absolutely love mine... Are not fastest as he makes them all by hand...but quality is top notch. https://phalanxconcealment.com/

You can try my favorite Kydex guy: PJ Holster. He does go up to 2 in. on belt loops and offers a variety of belt clip styles.

I don't know if his OWB holster rides high and tight enough to meet your concealability requirements, however.

I also really like PJ Holster for kydex. I have one IWB and one OWB for a M&P 2.0 compact. I have a 32 inch waist, OWB conceals very well under a loose untucked polo or button down shirt (buttoned or unbuttoned), usually worn over a tucked in T shirt. It probably gets more use than the IWB model.

Maybe attach one of these deals to the Kydex holster of your choosing?

I use one for my G-21 with Tlr2. Love it!

The other option is-

This one has a thumb strap which helps in retention. Call them, and they'll do the 2in loops.

I only have 1.5" belts but they are 'custom' made of good thick leather... what I do is use a leather inside the waste band holster but only inside the belt and outside the pants... if you can find a holster like this that will clip over a 2" belt that is my suggestion.

El Paso Saddlery makes really great pancake holsters and will cut you 2 inch slots if you ask. They're online, or on the border if you get to El Paso.

I have an IWB holster and OWB horizontal mag carrier for my Walther PPS M2. I just ordered the same for my new Springfield 1911 EMP 9mm, except I went vertical mag carrier, this time.

He stands by his products, too. The spring sprang on my PPS M2 holster. I contacted him to make me another and he replied "No need. Your holster is covered under warranty. Send it back and I'll make it right."

He'll work with you, too. The original mag carrier he sent me was so tight it took two men and a small boy to get the mag out. He suggested I try a little home tweaking with a hair dryer. I over-"tweaked" and melted it Razz "No problem," he replied, I'll make you a new one." The new one was a lot better, but was still overly tight. He professed confusion. I finally figured it out with a micrometer. Walther, in their infinite genius, had made the higher-capacity magazine just slightly >< thicker. The standard mags worked perfectly.

Cannot recommend Paul too highly.

It occurs to me, doing this kind of stuff, you might want above-average retention?

I had a DeSantis Thumb Break Scabbard for my G22. Very comfortable. Very secure. Thumb break did not interfere with the draw. Concealed quite well.

Hmmm... but they don't even mention belt sizes on the product page...

I've carried concealed using DeSantis OWB holsters and they are top quality leather rigs. I just measured the belt slot heights on the DeSantis holsters = 1-3/4 inch.

Kramer also makes excellent CCW holsters, but I don't know if a 2 inch belt would work. Kramer uses horse leather.

You might try one of Sig Forum holster makers for
custom size fit (Grizzle, etc.). Good luck!

The attachments for Safariland holsters are interchangeable. I think the Safariland part number for a 2” belt loop is 561BL. Three bolts on the back of the holster to swap the paddle for the new belt loop, and it will be fit your 2” belt.

Pretty much the same for any holster that uses the
teklok 3 hole pattern will also switch between paddle and 2" teklok latching and beltloops, els and other options.

What kind of gun, and how much do you mind it “sticking out” from your belt?
