Is Dan Wesson still making V-Bob pistols?

p08They make a Bobtail CCO still which I think is about the same as the old pre CZ V BOB?

RogueJSKYes. They had discontinued their Valor line, including the Vbob, in 2019ish, but immediately brought them back in a new version with a few tweaks and updates.

pedropcolaIt was odd when they “discontinued” the Valor line. It was almost like a mistake or just a silly reboot. Change the trigger, grips, and relive the takedown pin is all I see.
VBob’s are sweet. I would have gotten one but at the time they weren’t on the Maryland list.
Get one and post pics!

There's a little more than that on the updated Valors, with the changes including an added magwell (on the full sized model), tapered grips, ambi safety, skeletonized trigger, recessed slide stop lever, different sights, different side serrations, and serrations added to the top of the slide.

pedropcolaI have a blued one (not Duty Coat) and a SS Valor, both in 9mm. Those are the same sights as I have. I missed the magwell and ambi safety when I looked at the link.
Funny thing is none of those upgrades do I consider upgrades. I hate hate hate ambi safeties on 1911’s. I’m not even sure I know what “tapered” grips are but since I like the thin G10’s on both of mine I do not see how that could be an improvement. The magwell is a bullshit way to address the gap that the stock +1 magazines have. I prefer my solution, I bought 9 round flush mags, problem solved the correct way. Now, I will admit the relieved slide stop pin looks cool. Oh, and that trigger looks hideous on a great old school simple Valor. Lol
So if I bought a Valor today I would have to ditch the magwell, trigger, and get a single sided safety fitted. Glad I missed the “upgrade”.
I have an EMP4 which is sweet but my biggest complaint is the ambi safety. For the life of me I don’t know why they think we want these. Maybe I’m in the minority.

I'm with you on that... I prefer my O.G. Valor.

pedropcolaSweet. Valors are the best. That new two tone VBob is pretty sweet as well though. They even got the two tone part right. Lol
The new catalog seems to indicate no more 9’s though in most of the frames I like. Maybe a typo.

I am 100% with you on the Ambi-safeties. I also have an EMP4 with one, as well as a Springfield Loaded. Both are excellent guns, but I despise the ambi safeties. It's not an upgrade...its kludgery designed to pander to 10% of the population. I don't mind them being an option for someone that wants them, but I wish they wouldn't polute an entire product line of otherwise fantastic firearms by making them standard equipment. Learning how to fit a regular 1911 safety for both of these guns is on my list of projects for a rainy day.

"you need an ambi safety because if you get shot in the right arm, rendering it useless, in the heat of the moment you won't be able to remember how to manipulate the safety using the side of your left hand trigger finger" tacticool crowd.

92fstech^^^ True. I shouldn't have forgotten about that group, either, because I've worked with them. Nevermind that the likelihood of that scenario occurring is thousands of times less likely than the thing getting bumped and disengaged unintentionally...or worse, bumped on during a string of fire.

I bought this by accident. On GB I thought it was Duty Coat and missed the “blued” part. Oops. I have grown to love it though. Very old school. Of all the features on the new Valor, the only one I wish I had was the relief around the takedown pin because it looks very nice. Otherwise, nope I want it to remain like this. As an aside, I really like the diamond G10 grips. My stainless one has same grips bit all black if I recall.

92fstechThat's a happy accident ...that's a beautiful gun!

monoblokI was looking at the specs for the rebooted Valor; what's a 'tactical' thumb safety on a 1911? The new one looks certainly smaller than the original safety lever, but more 'tactical'?

pedropcolaIf I had to guess tactical=ambi.

I'm not sure in the Dan Wesson nomenclature, but I know that with Wilson Combat the "tactical" is actually a thinner lever than their other option, probably to reduce the chance of inadvertent activation. They offer it in both single-sided and ambi options.

Belgian BlueI agree with previous opinions. I liked the original Valors much better. The new stuff they did really detracts from a once great, perfectly optioned pistol.
And I also agree... I HATE ambi-safties! I am very pleased with my 9mm Vigil Commander. I would prefer a standard trigger and a memory grip on the grip safety, but it's really a great gun. Superb trigger and excellent single side only thumb safety detent.

Delta-3I will also agree with the others. The Valors were excellent handguns. That being said, my Guardian in 38 Super is the absolute favorite of all my pistols.
I believe DW makes the best production/custom 1911's in the industry. You get a lot of handgun for the price...I also hate ambi safeties.

jdshankThat's outstanding! Very nice DW. Having grown up in a right hand world I've had to learn how to make a right handed weapon run, no big deal. Being left handed I'm amazed when Karen picks up my weapon and comes unglued having to make a left hand safety work.I've had to use right handed guns and never saw what the big deal was?
