If you shoot somebody during a self-defense situation, and you intended to pull the trigger and shoot them, I’m not sure the weight of the trigger pull will matter in court.

Oops. Stupid me, I measured from the tip of my middle finger to the base of the hand where the wrist joint more or less is. From the tip of my index finger I'm probably about the same or 1/8" or so less in length than you. As for arthritis, yeah that sucks. Rheumatoid runs in my family on my mother's side, and at some point most of us humans will develop some amount of osteoarthritis. With me it's in my knees and probably my elbows. Getting old does suck.

If you live in the Phoenix area I would recommend taking it to CZ Custom in Mesa. They can dial that gun in for you.

Those grips are a great buy at about $38 a pair.
I have the grips, Dawson sights, a 13# hammer spring, and I did a little smoothing and polishing of the trigger.
This is the last pistol I would ever part with.

I have a PCR which is the P01's cousin. In my freakishly small hands, the PCR is one of the only pistols that works for me in that I can reach all the controls. Love the thing to death. That said, I DO have the slim aluminum grips on mine.

My previous handguns (age 62) consisted Only of Makarovs. Less than three years Total with handguns, and only two formal classes (after the CCW).
Then a guy sold me his used 75 PO1 weeks ago. Superb engineering!

The DA pull on this Used PO1 is a fair bit lighter than the 9mm P229 I rented yesterday (also a superb gun), and the DA is Much lighter than my brother's 'turn-in' P225.
The 225 DA is heavier than my Russ., Bulgy Maks, but very smooth.

I hope your PO1 somehow works out, and maybe the trigger on mine became lighter with freq. use by the previous owner?

On a sidenote, with the P229's double-stack mags, good trigger, ergos, compact size and 9mm chamber, I could easily see owning one (but the price vs. CZ compacts....).

CZ slides are always kinda challenging. That low profile doesn't provide much real estate to grab onto. And I do agree about the factory triggers; they are most often very 'meh' right out of the box.

But the darn things just worm their way into my psyche. Even with their mediocre triggers they shoot very well for me. As long as I don't fret over trying to stage the trigger pull like some bull's-eye target shooter, they work more than good enough.

My experience with the SP01 has been similar. I've only gotten 150 rounds through it thus far, but the trigger has been OK and pretty smooth with no grittines. Reset has been acceptable for me. I'll run 1000 rounds through it before considering any custom work for it. It's heavy enough to soak up a lot of recoil, but I agree that working the slide takes a little getting used to. Overall, I've enjoyed shooting it and it is very accurate. It stands a good chance of becoming my new nightstand gun.

Like I stated earlier, mention Makarovs all you want.

I shot Cz's all last year in USPSA. You get used to the slide pretty quick and the triggers are very easy to tune in. Now when I rack the slide on my P220 it feels freakishly large.
