Nick BConverting A 229 Elite To The Standard Grip .
I looked at a new P229 Elite that comes with the E2 grip . What would I need to convert this over to the standard grip besides a pair of grip panels and 4 grip screws ?
Thanks in advance.

ah3Nothing other than what you already mentioned. Make sure to be careful on the right side when taking off the E2 grip as it's easy for the Trigger Bar Spring to get caught and bent.

djpaintlesUMMMM.... I think you might need more than just the grip. I could be wrong, it's been several years since I upgraded one of my SIG's to the E2 grip. I may have forgotten the exacts but I seem to remember I had to change out the mainspring and the mainspring strut when I changed to the E2 grip.
You MIGHT have to go to an original spring and profile when switching to the normal grip.
Again it's late tonight and I might be wrong but I would suggest that you Contact Top Gun Supply or Sig Service and double check if you need different parts or not.
https://www.topgunsupply.com/s...age=1&keep_https=yesNote that the P220 E2 grip kit replaces the Hammer Strut and that they sell the P229 Short hammer strut.
I'm not sure if you need one or not but you might.
I apologize if I'm wrong but it's worth checking with a knowledgable parts supplier to make sure.........

Mustang-PaPaAll you need is the grips and screws.

NipperYep, grips and screws. The original reason for the E2 plastic base and mainspring (hammer spring) required by E2's was the reduced space available on the back strap with the E2's.
The standard two-panel grips work just fine. I replaced my E2 grips with G10's. As previously mentioned, be very careful not to damage the TBS when removing the E2's. A lot of people, me included, mangled their TBS before this became common knowledge.

No, he doesn't need to contact anyone. As stated, nothing else needed, except the 2 grip panels and 4 screws.
