P365XL and Wilson Combat grip modules Login/Join
Lost, but making

A few years ago while living in Pennsylvania, I bought a P365XL to be a small CCW when I didn't feel like carrying my P320C. When I first got the 365, I found myself "heeling" it and shooting high left. The grip was too narrow so I swapped it out for a Wilson Combat module. That module fit my hands perfectly and it solved my problem.

I moved to Florida a little over a year ago. The weather is a little different down here and I'm wearing much lighter clothes. I've only carried my P320C once in a little over a year and now it's basically another house gun.

I didn't like giving up any capacity, so I thought about buying a P365 X-Macro. I knew I would probably have the same problem I had with the narrow stock grip diameter so I decided not to buy one.

A few weeks ago I saw that Wilson Combat offered two 17 round modules, one with the short XL rail, the other with the full longer X-macro rail. It looked like the perfect solution so I went with the short rail module that Wilson calls the "X Macro Short Grip Module". The short rail would allow me to still use my leather R. Grizzle holster I bought for the 365XL. Life is too short to carry an ugly gun, so I ordered the gray module.

I did the swap, and I'm very happy that I did. Like the shorter XL grip module, this one fits my hands perfectly. My first range session went extremely well and I'm very confident carrying this gun.

This was my first warm up through the new module, 20 rounds at 5 yards, slow fire. I also did some multiple target transitions on a timer and my splits and accuracy was just as good as when I shoot my P320C. I've been shooting and competing with a stock P320C for about 8 years, so that's a good feeling.

The trigger guard and front of the Wilson Combat module is wider than the stock Sig grip module, so it was a really tight fit in the leather holster. A trick I learner from an old timer a long time ago was to put the gun into a plastic bag and insert it into the leather holster. Leave the gun in the holster for a few days, and the leather will stretch just enough for a perfect fit. The new module fits like a glove and now I've got my "new" full size Florida CCW.

Of course now I need a small Florida CCW, so I ordered an original 3.1" ten round P365 (Sig rewards program from work). I'll probably end up putting its FCU in my 12 round Wilson grip module and getting an kydex appendix carry holster. Then my Florida CCW rotation will be set.

I dig the grey frame. Wilson really hit a home run with the P365 grip modules. It made a big difference on my P365x. Reasonably priced as well.

I have 3 P365s: two of them are converted to X’s with the Wilson 12 round frame and manual safeties. For me, this is the config that works best for EDC.

My third P365 is a non-comp X-Macro with the full railed Wilson 17 round frame, a manual safety, 507k RMR and a Streamlight TLR-7X. My X-Macro is mostly a range gun but it could also double for nightstand duty, if needed.

Only wish Wilson made them in the other colors for those of us with a P365 with a manual safety.

I had to add the manual safety notches to my Wilson X-Macro frame and it was very easy to do with a modeling knife. I’m not sure why they don’t offer that config, but I took a regular MS frame, lined it up w the Wilson and just transferred some marks over, alignment wise. It only took a few mins to remove the rest of the material w the hobby knife.

I was going to get the WC short Macro module but I heard about the holster problems. Especially with kydex. I was constantly carrying my old P365 with a 12rd grip modified to 14 with magguts internals.

I bought a bunch of 17rd and 21rd mags from GregCoteLLC. Then I bought a TyrantCNC macro-snub module. All my holsters fit. Then I didn't like the short original P365 slide on it so I bought a 365XL to swap slides. Then I got a WC XL grip module. So this experiment turned into two new carry guns.

So this:

turned into these:

Before all this, I was actually just going to buy a P365 FUSE. lol

Yes, I guess it's equivalent to a P365X?

Just FYI - for those who have an SAS, I have found that while the WC grips module "fits". The factory SAS slide release is recessed too deeply in the frame, and you can't easily press down on it.

Exactly. 3.1" slide on a 12 round XL module. That's what I'll probably do when I get the new 365 I ordered.

Thank you.
