Guns we’ve sold…
I've only ever sold 3 guns over the 20+ years I've been shooting.

Only really regret selling one: an HK 91. I got it for a steal back in the early 2000s, but couldn't justify the ammo price or the lack of shooting time when I was in college or a poor grad student. Sold it for a profit and have really regretted it.

I also got an early USP 9f that I sold. Was a nice gun. Wouldn't mind still having it, but whatever.

I also ended up stuck with an M&P 9 by accident (long story) which I unloaded. Not a gun I ever wanted, so no regrets there, except for the financial loss.

I would say selling the HKP7M8 factory phosphate finish. HK made a special run with this finish for the DC Park Police and there were three pistols in the overrun. I bought one ANIB from an HK employee in Tyson's Corner, VA, so had 1 of 3. Actually I traded it.

I regret selling my first handgun, a P226 NSW Navy. Never should have let that one go.

Honestly can’t think of a gun that I’m most happy about selling.

The only gun I regretted selling was my 1980s Beretta Cheetah .22. Sold it to a friend. I regretted it so much I bought it back from him when he was hard up for cash. Won't sell it again.

Bought a colt commander in 1966 from a major who came back from Viet Nam. When I was getting out of the service a year later I asked myself why do I need this commander, and ammo is expensive. So I put it in the Fort Bragg Paraglide for exactly the same price that I paid $100. I still think about that beautiful commander.

Regretted the most?

Two-tone P239/9mm, and two-tone HK USP40. There are many others, but those are the main two I'd like back!

Happiest they're gone?

Pretty long list there, but a Jennings J22 pistol rises to the top of my memory...

Ones I really regret selling? Factory brite stainless delta elite. Mk111 hi power. 358 win red pad Ruger rifle. 3inch stainless 629 no lock. 357 Atomic great western. The rest I don’t really miss.

The ones I passed over at a gun shop/gun show and went back next day or week and then gone is a list a mile long

happiest I got rid of,

bought a cheap 45 acp derringer for a pocket carry

took it to the range, first shot at about 7 yrds was in the X ring,

the other 25 or so everywhere else,

paid maybe $100 for it, sold it the next gunshow for the same,

regrets,,,

was offered a PE 57 as a birthday\christmas present by my father ( he ran the business I now have) but thought it was too much, so I told him if he did not sell it at the next show, I would take it,

stupid me, he sold it (I was there( at a tiny show for $3599,, this was early 90's,

have not laid my eyes on one since (in person)

I traded in a Ruger I think P95 if memory serves for a Smith 4506. I did have to sell the Smith outright to cover bills one year.

About 6 years later I replaced it with an HK USPf .45. So I'm good.

I sold a 1987 model Sig P220 9mm Euro heel drop mag release to a buddy. My reason at the time was that I couldn’t easily update the slide with night sights. Wish I had that one back. I had bought it new at a US Army Rod and Gun Club in Augsburg, Germany.

I've only sold two guns ever.
A Beretta 92 Compact to a friend and a Walther PPK/s.
The Beretta was DAO so no regrets on that.
The Walther despite being a sexy gun was extremely unreliable and traded it in on a HK USP Tactical.

FWIW, I don't even regret acquiring the HK USP Tactical 40 I got from 12131 years ago and I am sure he does not regret selling it - win-win! Smile

I also lent a buddy a Beretta 92FS after Hurricane Ike and never got it back. My buddy later brought me some cash and asked if he could just keep it.

To be honest the thought of trading in my 228 has crossed my mind. I bought it sight unseen from 220ST years ago. It just feels too fat in my hand. Thinking maybe a 9mm 1911.
