pepsiblueOpinions and input requested… Nighthawk owners step in!
I’m looking for opinions and advice. I’ve had quite a few 1911’s over the years. I currently have Colts and a couple Springfields. One is a standard blue TRP from 2006 and the other is a bull barrell with adjustable sights. The regular TRP is definitely my favorite 1911.
Local shop just got in a used Nighthawk GRP, black finish, non railed version.
The good… It is an older model, from 2009 according to the test target. It includes the zippered case and paperwork. It has new Trijicon sights. The oem grips are gone, but I really like the G10 grips that are on it. Lastly, and most importantly I think, is the price. It’s a great price considering new retail is around $3500
The bad… the person that put the sights on was a moron. The area on each side of the front sight is marred badly on both sides. The metal isn’t damaged at all, just the finish. Cosmetic damage only. The other thing is it came (and still does) with a right hand side only safety. I’m a lefty, so that’s an issue.
I’m considering trading the bull barrel in on the GRP. I’ll still owe a chunk, but I’ll end up still getting a good deal on the Nighthawk. Later I can get the GRP slide refinished and have a safety installed. I think even after that expense, I’ll be ok.
Thoughts on the trade?
