Heritage "Roscoe"
Anybody have one? I always liked the old-school S&W Chief Special Mod 36, especially with the 3" barrel, but never got one. Newer Smiths don't appeal. I see the Roscoe is available for just over $300 and I'm wondering if it's worth it.

Re-boot of the Taurus 85. Taurus owns Heritage. So maybe you are rolling the dice on quality control.

I figured. It would just be a fun piece for me, but chancy QC is not fun, even if it's not a carry piece.

Thanks, Yooper.

I would highly recommend finding an old, used model 36. My F-I-L thought the same thing and disregarded my advise; after 1 range trip, the crane screw came out and he found the cylinder on the floor at the bottom of his safe. He contacted them for repair, which they agreed to and sent him a shipping label; but, the company has been dragging their feet and has had it for about a month now.

I doubt I would want to pay the price of one in top condition, especially since it's the 3" barrel I'm interested in, as this is just a casual idea, not a grail gun search.

I had a 1-7/8", bought new in the late 1970's, sold about ten years later in a fit of stupidity, and a friend had a 3" but in a smaller caliber, maybe some sort of .22 magnum.

This was just a thought, based on the low price of the Heritage.

Thanks for the suggestion, though.

I'm hoping for a Heritage Tommy Gun with matching grey fedora and Zoot Suit.

No used Mod 36 for me. I have no real use for the gun, and a 3" would exceed my Pain Level for sure.
