This makes me go: "huh". Got nothing against CZ, Arex Delta seems to small for the contract, and the Glock 17, while not making me go "huh" isn't really SOTA now is it?

I just have to shake my head that H&K, Sig, and Walther weren't in the running, but I guess that's why I'm a criminal defense lawyer in Tacoma and not running the German Army. CZ really seems to be drinking everyone's milkshake lately. I just can't get over that this CZ version is, to me, ugly AF and wonder about the "elegance" of German firearms. Although the G36 won no beauty contests, it at least was cool as hell.

So, CZ charges them the least, eh?

I have a couple P10C’s. They are fine guns. It’s a good choice. Better than a G17 or PDP? 3 birds of a very good feather.

I agree. I like the P10C better than the G19 which is a great gun!

All the services seem to be jumping on the striker fired optics ready bandwagon, when what they really need is a ton more training in what they already have. If my time in the military is any indication ( retired in 2009 and I know to some degree it has gotten better) pistol training was abysmal. Without some decent fundamentals the fanciest gun and dot in the world is not going to help

Yes. Absolutely they need more training.

However, as you well know, militaries are hard on weapons. They get over cleaned and it isn’t good for them. Not to mention the the constant “take it all the way apart to just put it back together for no real reason”. It’s the life that big armies choose. By 1990, we had Berettas that already looked like they were stainless from over cleaning. We got them mid 1987. Our M16A2s faired no better.

CAG and Devgru are about the only units that wear out guns from use in the US. Everyone else abuses them through care.

Not to mention my disdain for our military’s obsession with manual safety pistols.

Striker fired pistols are the now. Optics are the now.

I concur with the Germans, I dig the P-10 series. This P-10F is my bedside piece.

H&K and Walther weren`t in the running because the main factor the decision was price.

Performance would not have got them any bonus points as in the past.

The German government probably will destroy them, before they let the civilians get their hands on them. But why wait? The P8A1 has made its way to this side of the pond for quite some time, now. There’s one available in the Classifieds right now. Never mind, seller appears to have taken it down.

There was a recent influx of P8A1s. Can't remember the distributor. I just sold mine that was an Arms Unlimited (B&T) import from 2023. I didn't really shoot it or carry it so it just collected dust.

I have a recent P09. I think the mags are compatible with the P10F. I had a P10C when they first came out. It didn't do anything my Glock 19 didn't so I got rid of it.

HK has been selling the P8 variant on the civilian market (at least in Germany)

but as stated P8s from the Bundeswehr won`t be sold as surplus, they either be destroyed or be stored

Kinda like what Glock did to the LE market, but these are way cheaper. My P10-C has been a great gun for me, fits way better than a G-19.

My LGS has had two P8A1’s for sale in the past few weeks. They were also posting them on Gunbroker. Not sure if they were true issued pistols, but they’re out there…

I just went with the USP 9 as I am sure I will switch it to light LEM anyways. The CZ P10 is a really nice striker fired pistol and I don’t think it was a bad choice. For the most part, we are in the Golden Age of the striker fired pistols.

I don’t understand the P8 appeal outside of military weapons collectors. The goofy wrong way safety alone is enough that if I wanted a USP I would buy a USP. Not to mention, I love my USP and USPc’s but they aren’t magic. They are robust, accurate, and reliable. And have mediocre factory triggers, sharp edges, and have the hand feel of the average 2x4.

The P10 is a great choice. The G17 would have been a great choice. I prefer the PDP to either.
