Thanks for all the help everyone. I did manage to get the grips off the 22. Indeed the serial numbers all match. Now to clean it and shoot it.

There are more as well, but that is what I could remember off the top of my head.
I've personally used S&W and Wilson Combat full and half moon clips without issues.

All three revolvers are neat but the S&W 22 is spectacular. Seems like the half moon clips are for ejection of the 45 ACP rounds and it head spaces in the case mouth. You can always push out the ACP empties with a wooden dowel. Another option is to pick up a box of 45 Auto Rim that is designed for use in these revolvers. Colt also made 45 ACP revolver for the military.

That prewar 22 is amazing. Would command a lovely premium around here. Mine is early postwar 1 liner
I also have a 1917. Any moon or half moon for a smith 45acp revolver should work. Pro tip: get a demooning tool. Makes getting the empties off the clip much easier. I wouldn’t shoot anything other than standard velocity ball ammo in it.

Congrats on the K-22. I have a 6" K-22 Masterpiece, dated 1948 (K 59,xxx). Has adjustable rear sights, it is an extremely accurate and fun gun to shoot. I have taken it on my last half dozen trips to the range.

Wheelgun weekend. Took the 22 and the 1917 out to plink. The accuracy of these guns is astounding. Used some ww2 era ball ammo. Didn't need moonclips as the brass extracted from the cylinder easily. Also used automatch, green tag, and cheap armscorp 22lr in th 22. At 25 yds both guns grouped very well.

One bit about the Smith and Wesson. On some models the ejector rod can come unscrewed. If this happens while the cylinder is closed, you might not be able to open it until you (Carefully!) screw the ejector rod back in. Just check occasionally to make sure it's snug.
I have a Military and Police in .38 S&W made probably in 1937 which has this habit.
