Buy high and sell "low" |
Thinking of getting one of their 1911’s are they as nice as they say they are? Or are the other makers better, les Baer, Ed Brown, Wilson Combat etc. Thanks Archerman

I have no experience with one, but they get rave reviews on the 1911 forum. Some day it’s on my short list

It's such a hard question to answer. I had the itch to buy one. Finally shot the ACW in 45ACP and 9mm. They are beautiful guns, shoot great but for me, I just prefer my Les Baers. LB's aren't as sexy but for all the 1911's you named, I shoot them the best so personally that is what I am sticking with.

I swear I had something for this |
Yes, they are. Rob Schauland spent decades working at Springfield Armory and Les Baer developing his craft and also spent years on 1911forum.com when he just had a custom shop giving a lot of advice on what to look for and tips and tricks regarding the 1911. The biggest reason I don't own a gun worked on by him is he joined Cabot to fix the problems they were having with their clone models right when I had a problem with a Les Baer Commanche Monolith I ended up selling. Now, Alchemy is reopened into a semi-custom shop building 1911s with very high quality parts and are almost as tight as a Les Baer but finished to a much higher degree. If you're looking for a classic/flawless look of a 1911, Alchemy is one of the best. They are very much to 1911s what Singer is to a classic 911. If you're looking for flashy or flamboyant, then there's other makers that will suit you better, possibly on the Cabot half of the business.
