I just watched a video on how to polish a Ruger to make it shoot better. The guy spent an hour showing everything to be polished and why, including shims and why he did what he did. Iirc there was a guy who did the same in the Ruger forum called an IBOK, but that has been taken down for “reasons”.

Basically, you have to reduce the drag on all the parts in the trigger group to reduce the trigger on a GP or SP101.

I’ll go see if I can find it and get back to you.

Mcarbo is the guy…here’s the video https://youtu.be/txbCmzM4v6A?si=oWSc8L7-Yhu8fXqf

I did trigger pull reduction work to four revolvers. Three S&W's, of which two were pre lock, and one GP100. In all three cases I got the guns down to a single action pull between 4.5# and 4#. I don't really care about double action because all these guns are used for bullseye, and I thumb cock them for the string of fire. The only parts I replaced were the trigger return springs. The only thing that spring does is return the trigger to it's forward position in double action mode. I also greased all the pivot and engagement surfaces with a moly paste grease.

If your gun had any MIM parts in the fire control group, you should NEVER use any mechanical means of polishing. MIM parts are only surface hardened, and using a Dremel is going to reduce the lifespan of the part in question. Years ago there were problems with Rock River Arms AR-15 match grade triggers because of this very issue. People were polishing\stoning the engagement surfaces, and the triggers were wearing through the remaining surface hardening and going bad.

I left a question about MIM parts on that guy's You Tube channel. We'll see if I get an answer.

IBOK = Iowegan Book Of Knowledge

Iowegan is/was a gunsmith, a pretty good one as far as I could tell by my exchanges with him.

Yeah you can’t find the IBOK anymore, they said that someone claimed copyrights on part of his work. But the video I posted covers it.
