P226 X-Five Allround Supermatch Skeleton - Why? Login/Join

Because I want it, that's why. Nothing else needs explaining. Big Grin

Received it from MMBI on Friday. Weekend was busy. Yesterday, range was closed. Today was range day.

THE GUN - At its core, it's just a DA/SA P226 that we all know and love. This all stainless steel Allround is the 2nd gen (aka, Enhanced) version, the original having cleaner lines and no rail. Supermatch features are the sport takedown lever, Supermatch grips, jet funnel, 19-rounders. Skelton feature is visually obvious. Finish is all black PVD. Frame/slide fit is tight without any play. Finish is nearly perfect, saved for a couple of areas of bare stainless on the right frame rail. Trigger is good and smooth at 9 lbs 11 oz DA, and is excellent and broke with zero creep at 3 lbs 4 oz SA. I will say that this better than the plain Enhanced Allround or the original Allrounds I previously owned. But, it is still a step behind Robert Burke's action job.

SHOOTING DAY - Shot 350 rds today.
Ammo were just nothing special range ammo (150x Fiocchi 124 Gr FMJ, 50x GECO 115 Gr FMJ, 150x Magtech 124 Gr FMJ). I know I know, need to reload or get the match ammo. Not a priority for me, however.
There were zero hiccups, except for the first mag that fell out right after the very first shot. This was due to user error (did not fully sit the mag) and not the gun's fault. Overall a great fun day.

It's to prevent any upward movement of the TDL.
I knew I should have included this pic. Big Grin

Cool. There seems to be a lot of ragged holes on those targets of yours. I'm sure a big grin came shortly afterwards.

I often ask myself if I need an extra P220 in 7.65mm. Doesn't everybody? Big Grin

The quality built into the guns from Germany cannot be denied. Such a fine pistol. Your Facettes gun is my favorite of the X guns. Curious 12131, have you or do you think you might ever own one of the PPC models? For their intended purpose, they must be a serious paper puncher.

Congratulations on a wonderful addition to the family

I had alwasy thought that the original X5 Allrounds would have looked better in a black PVD finish. I guess I need another pistol Smile

Where did you come across so many black base plate X-5 magazines?

Or did you find a source for base plates to add to your own existing magazines?

Yes, the Facettes is my favorite X gun, too. Something about that gun that is out of this world. Big Grin

Yes, I've owned the X6 PPC PP26 previously, bought on impulse. Eventually sold it unfired. Roll Eyes

#1 - #4 are the Mec-Gar aftermarket 20-rounders with the polymer bases.
#5 is Mec-Gar 18-rounder with the TRT Tactical +2 aluminum base, making it 20-rounder.
#6 & #7 are the Mec-Gar made SIG factory aluminum black base 19-rounders.
#8 is Mec-Gar 18-rounder with the TRT Tactical +0 aluminum base. Not sure why I ordered this base, as it added no extra rounds to the mag.

#9 - #13 are Mec-Gar made SIG factory aluminum silver base 19-rounders.
#14 - #17 are factory German dovetailed back 25-rounders that are supplied with the X5 Open.

Oh they are all fine pistols. That PPC model needs the trigger more like your Allround, which BTW is a Black Knight. I dig the 25 round mags too. And your Facettes is amazing.

Beautiful!

How does one go about obtaining a new XFive? Is there a lottery? Is MMBI the importer?

Did you shoot any groups with it on paper? Should be a very accurate pistol.

Very nice Q. What made you pick the DA/SA over the SOA. Are you going to send to Robert for action job or leave as is and shoot the hell out of it.

Not yet David. I've been too preoccupied with my custom 1911s :-). I need to get the Sigs back into the rotation...
