I have a chance to buy a used SA Prodigy 5 inch with 4 mags for $900.00 and don't know if I should buy it, I like the 1911 platform but I don't want to spend Staccato money. should I go for it?, seller says stock.
I don't have a 5 inch, but my 4.25 has been flawless with everything except 115 gr ball. That will occasionally fail to feed if the gun is dirty.
From what I've heard, the early guns were badly undersprung and later guns run much better. I bought mine expecting it to be a project gun, but I ended up liking it a lot.
I have the 4.25 inch Prodigy as well, and it has been flawless after about 1,700 rounds of mainly Steel Challenge matches. All 147 grain round nose bullets. They are a great way to test out the 2011 platform. If you can, test fire for function before buying.
