Question about VZ grips for CZ pistols - Updated, new Pachmayrs w/pics
Standard CZ rubber grips have a palm swell. I want to slim the gun (a P-01) down a little. Are the VZ grips flat-sided and/or thinner?

VZ makes palm swells and flat. Might also want to check out LOK Grips...they've posted some pretty sweet designs as well and are cheaper than VZ.

As stated, VZ makes both. Also check out the aluminum grips CZ Custom Shop sells. That’s what I have on most of my CZ’s. They are very thin.

I looked into both styls of CZ aluminum grips and they both look flat sided.

OP,

I have been looking into the same thing for my new PCR. VZ, Lok and Cool Hand were the 3 manufacturers that I found that make palm swell style.

VZ I couldn't find a palm swell version for the compact. They were all full size.

Cool Hand has some interesting designs but no clue where they are made or if they are any good.

Lok is the one everyone seems to like and that's the one I will be going with.

The lok palm swells are bigger than the factory rubber. Vz’s are slimmer, butter ones I’ve seen are less aggressive than the loks. It’s been some years since I’ve looked at them.

I had thin wood grips on my PCR, but somehow wood doesn't look right on this gun, even though they are similar. I was looking at black VZ's on Amazon for $66 but wasn't sure which profile they had.

I have a set of grey VZ's on my P-01. They are slimmer for certain. They also come in different levels of aggression, some I would not want rubbing on my torso all day if IWB is a consideration.

Have Cool Hand grips on a couple CZs, a 92A1 and an air pistol and I am very happy with them. I honestly don’t see a huge difference vs my VZs. IIRC the 92A1 may have needed a hair of sanding to fit but I have VZ grips for revolvers that needed a tad bit of fitting.

I have no experience with LOK grips but have never heard anything negative about them.

Pachmayer is marketing a grip similar in appearance to the LOK grips but a bit cheaper.

Meh on the VZ flat profile panels for me. Feels Like Nothing, with some lil' bit o' grit to somehow pacify. Looks kinda purdy though, as if that's enough to placate. Haven't tried the swell shaped panels; not sure I want to spend another $80 on yet another G10 set that might prove just as unsatisfactory when I already know that the fugly SP-01 rubber grips work so bloody well for me.

I like the feel of the factory CZ rubber grips, but wanted more grip. The LOK Bogie palm swells are the closest thing I've found to it.

They have a 4th of July for 20% off until the 8th of July if I recall correctly.

I ordered a set of Pachmayrs, checkered, in the grey/black color, from Amazon.

Their website lists the 75 only, not the compact, and they don't look like they have a swell.

Let me know your thoughts when you get them in since we're in the same boat.

Pachmayer on the left and LOK on the right.

Never thought to take side by side photos for comparison.

I wasn't a big fan of aluminum grips until I got a set of these for my PCR from CZ Custom. They're very flat and very comfortable!

LOK grips are fantastic grips, and will save you some big bucks over VZs.

And, they offer something VZ's still lacking, the Palm Swell grips for the CZ Compact.

There was a slight misunderstanding/delay in getting them (long story), but I got the Pachmayrs and put them on this evening.

There is more contrast with the black gun than is apparent in these crummy pictures. Thin, flat and less tacky or sticky than the rubber, just the way I like them. Would I have preferred all black? Yes, but half the price matters, too.
