Hello Everyone,

I've been thinking of getting some of these for my two tone P226. Are these good to go now? I remember reading about some issues with these a few years ago, but heard they were improved.

Much improved.
Hogue Extreme grip screws are made from heat treated 416 stainless steel that's much tougher and resistant to damage than conventional factory screws.

Available in Black or stainless, Hex or slotted

Ah! The man himself. Thanks Ken! Now I just have to decide which G10 grips to get, piranha or checkered.

Yep, much better. I have them on all my 220's and they've done very well.

Do they require loctite or do they stay pretty snug?

On a newish 220 with Hogue G10’s the hex screws kept loosening at the range until I applied Vibra-tite. I was not using a washer.

I have found that if you put a small O-ring at the base of each screw it will securely hold the grip screw if using either G10, aluminum, or wooden grips.

I've never put loctite on and have never lost a screw.

I've had a screw loose for a while now, but never on a grip.... even though I do need to get one.

Sorry, could not help myself.... life is just too good not to laugh when ever the opportunity presents itself.

I actually saw this thread down at the bottom of the page and opened it and realized I am interested in these screws... I seldom miss the opportunity to improve a pistol I own, especially a Sig.

The one gun that sheds grip screws are the 229s in 357 Sig. All three of mine have lost screws at the range, and I always check for snugness after cleaning. The factory screws on those come with red thread locker already on them. You have to be very careful, the frame is soft aluminum and not many threads. Very easy to strip the holes out.

Hogue needs to use bigger hex heads. Unless they've improved in the last couple of years the hex headed screws were REALLY easy to strip if you weren't careful. If they have improved, please let me know. I prefer the hex heads for most uses, but I've had problems with the Hogues in a couple of Sigs.
