Ever since watching the series Longmire I've wanted an old Colt 1911 wearing a set of stag grips with just enough wear to show that it "did stuff", like the one Walt Longmire carries. Two weeks ago I saw these 1911 stags for sale that I couldn't pass up.

Now to find the right Colt to put them on.

Is this normal, or is there something wrong with me?

There is nothing wrong with buying parts for something you don't have. Yet.

Oh yeah? Tell that to my wallet. Wink.'

If you are going to buy grips for a gun, there is no other more iconic gun, than a Colt 1911. Nice choice.

Grips a couple of times. Magazines-well, a bunch of times. I still have mags I haven't bought guns for. And a bunch still in their boxes cause I got such a bargain I bought too many.

Close - I had a hankering to buy a BK Grips grip adapter for a S&W revolver (they are similar to the famed Tyler T-Grip). I’ve used both in the past and don’t at the moment have a real need for one.

The adapter is still at the ready for when just the right revolver comes along.

See something that will be helpful later when you finally acquire said final item then why not get it now especially if it is at a fair price because if you wait till later then the item might not be available or the price makes it unobtainable. Go for it. .......drill sgt.

Lol, guilty here. Grips, holsters, mags, you name it. Many times I have "pre-bought" items, although I usually then get the gun.

I have a bunch of AR grips that aren’t on built rifles yet. If that counts.

I bought a R Grizzle holster for a 365 Macro like a year ago.
I still don’t have a 365. However I am supposed to pick one up Friday.

Not grips (although I have spare grips and stocks for quite a few firearms) but I have acquired sights for rifles that I didn't have, then afterward bought the rifle.
