No.

Actually, yes it does. "Co-witness" is a strange term that really only refers to the center line of the red dot sight being in the center line of the iron sights. Even in a "1/3 co-witness" gun, if you press your cheek down hard enough the red dot will stack with the iron sights.

Really, even with pistols, how low you mount the red dot will only effect how much of the iron sights you see through the red dot window.

I know what cowitness is. Thanks, though. Wink

Read my other posts. My point was that rifle-style setups like "absolute cowitness" and "1/3rd cowitness" are typically not used on handguns.

It's all just a low cowitness. Ideally as low as possible, while still being able to use the sights.

Thanks for the link. I just e-mailed Dawson to see how they measure their sights. Hopefully I'll get it right this time with a bare minimum height set of sights. I don't care about co-witness when it comes to pistols.

This is the real point. On a rifle you can adjust both the height of the optic in the mount and the sights. On these pistol millings you don't have any choice in practical terms about the depth of the cut. There's stuff under there and in most of these millings you already actually cut into something. So the height of the sights is your adjustment method to get them high enough to see over the RMR body and as far into the window as you want. As RogueJSK says you want that as low as possible.

My G19 slide was milled way back when RDS trend first started, by L&M precision. I first installed a set of .391 and it was way low, now I have .401 (or .410, I don’t remember but it’s the next height up in Ameriglo). This clears the base of the RMR.

Thank you.

If you're directly milling the optic any suppressor height will work. I prefer all black, the Suarez ones work fine even though I hate giving him money. It really doesn't matter as you won't be looking at the irons anyway. You just need to be able to line them up through the window, I prefer as short as posible.
