So with the M17 it is known that one of the features of the disassembly is that you don’t have to pull the trigger to get the slide off the frame, which is cool, but not really that big of a deal as I shoot Glocks a lot anyway and have never had a problem checking for clear before pulling the trigger to release the slide. Well when I was cleaning my M17, after I got the slide off I went to pick up the frame to clean it and accidentally grabbed in the trigger guard and pulled the trigger. It clicked and it sort of caught me off guard as I am used to a dead trigger with my other platforms. Question is does it do any damage or is there any issue with pulling the trigger on the 320 series/M 17 specifically with the slide off? It’s not like a hammer fired weapon where there is nothing to stop the hammer from bashing against the frame so the striker design shouldn’t matter should it? What about putting the slide back om after the trigger was pulled? Not sure what the part is called that popped up when the trigger was pulled, but the slide went on no issue afterwards. Anyway just curious as I’m always finding myself making dumb mistakes cleaning as I have so many platforms from different pistols to keep in my head and I forget.

No. There is nothing about the design to cause damage pulling the trigger with the slide off. If that caused damage or prevented putting the slide back on, it would be an epidemic that would burn up the Internet. ► 6.4/93.6 ___________ “We are Americans …. Thanks SF. I thought it should be fine, but wanted to make sure.

Off subject slightly: I bought an FHN striker fired pistol a couple months back by accident (too long a story) I did not think I was every going to get it broken down. Seems the guide rod was slightly off and I would try to trip the trigger all kind of ways and the damn slide would not release.... finally forced it off with the proverbial 'wack'. still don't like that having to trip the trigger to get it to release. Not that I'm worried about a round being in the chamber... just that it is another thing to have to do. My Native American Name: "Runs with Scissors"
