I have just purchased a new old stock P229 Legion 9mm. The serial number is 55E xxxxxx. Can anyone please tell me the date of manufacture. The night sights are a little dim but it was a display pistol.

The 55E prefix runs from 2018 until now. You need to give at least the first three digits of the serial number, in order to narrow it down more. But, if it's new old stock as claimed, the birth date should be on the box label.

Yep, they like to print that real small....

I found a legion 226 SAO at my FFL April of 2022 and the date of manufacture on the box is April of 2021... would love to know the history of that gun and how it got in the used pistol display after less than a year.

How many gun stores can afford to keep a Sig Legion pistol as a "display model" long enough for the night sights to go dim?

Most gun stores I'm familiar with don't have a deep stock of anything, especially variations of Sig classic P-series pistols.

Don't get me wrong, I would love to own a P229 Legion 9mm. It's a beautiful pistol with great features. If it were me, I would just ship the slide back to Sig and have them replace the night sights. There will be cost, but I don't think it is prohibitive and you know the nights sights will be good for at least six years.

This great looking pistol was in their glass case in the center of the LGS where they put the real nice pistols like engraved 1911s and Colt Pythons. I had been drooling over it since I retired last February.

Welcome to the Club, Gesebastian, first of all!

Years ago, we used to say, "TTIWWOP" and this is the perfect reason to resurrect it.

This Thread Is Worthless Without Pictures definitely applies to your NOS Legion! Cool

There's a thread in SIG Forum Office from July that tells you how to do it.

So, what was the date of manufacture.... I'm surprised the night sights are dim... but I've never been able to judge mine... they are all somewhat dim it seems.... unless you are in the real dark.

Also, what would it being a display model have to do with the sights dimming.... aren't they just radioactive and will dim regardless of how the pistol is stored....?

April 22 . They are a bit dimmer than on my M18 but functional. I am going to send the slide in for a new set after the 1st of the year.

I just purchased a supposedly NEW 229 LEGION not seen it yet.
I will have to see what the sight brightness is BUT I do not think IM going to like green on green sights.
Need a different colour on the front, I assume my sig will have green on green sights.

My Legion P229 has green on green night sights. The April. 22 model I have is not cut for a RMR and I am glad . I like the feel of it and how it handles I hope it shoots as well as it looks.
