I’m in the market for a Scorpion Micro. This is what I’m after. Are they just rare because of the market or were they discontinued and I have to just get one and “micro” it? Just hop on a waiting line and pray? Any major pitfalls? Mandatory upgrades? “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

I have the factory stock and made it an SBR, took all of two weeks and absolutely love it. I did have to make my own micro but that was easy enough. Some of the mandatory upgrades, in my opinion, are: charging handle, trigger shoe (I am fine with the pull but a lot of people change springs), grip and safety levers (I have the mini AK style). HBI Industries is a great source for much, if not all of the above items. Have fun, mine is so accurate as to be boring, if that is a thing ________________________ "Don't mistake activity for achievement." John Wooden, "Wooden on Leadership"

I just want it to simplify my up north bag. I have an AK-V but it’s too big and heavy. I want the micro with the two rod brace and stubby handguard. “The urge to save humanity is almost always only a false-face for the urge to rule it.”—H.L. Mencken

I have the exact one you linked. Basically the 1st version of the micro with the telescoping PDW brace and the "faux" Osprey can. After a year or so, they replaced it with a newer version with a folding brace and no fake can. The ones I see presently are just the pistol version with no brace. It is a very fun gun, I bought it before getting an HK SP5, so it gets less attention, but it is still a fun thing to shoot. I replaced the grip with a YetiWurks one, much better angle. Also installed replacement safety levers, extended charging handle, trigger and spring kit from HB Industries. Also installed a paddle mag release from HB as well. Also got a dozen of the PSA 35 rd mags when they were on sale for 11 bucks ea. I'm eventually going to give this setup to my son, who loves the gun. I also have the older version with the fake can. I got the stamp for mine so I replaced the brace with a stock. I also changed the grip to a MagPul put an HB Industries AK style safety on the right side and replaced the right side safety and mag release, I think with Apex parts. I also added a MagPul vertical grip and an MRO. It’s a very handy little piece and I enjoy shooting it quite a bit. The safety is the only truly mandatory upgrade IMO, the factory safety is terrible. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

Thanks. That's very similar to what I want to do, but if we travel out of state, I'd rather have it be a pistol in my backpack. Also, thanks for the heads-up about the safety and parts list. They are out there but may take some time to find the one and price you want. I have the EVO 3-standard pistol and must say it is a blast to shoot. I only have a few hundred rounds threw mine but it ate everything and was amazingly accurate. At 35 yards I could keep all of my shots in the X ring with the iron sights. I am a decent shot but this things does the work if you point it in the right direction. The safety is a pain to work around but if you change out the grip, which almost everyone does- due to it's angle, I don't have a problem with the safety anymore. You might want to get some mags for it and Midway has a deal on the 30 rounders, I think they are still only $18/mag for the newer window type with free shipping. Good luck with your search and report back when you get it.

Yeah I had thought about buying a second one and not getting the stamp for more flexibility, but then the last two years happened so it has not happened yet. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

I really love mine. The safety positioning really sucks and needs to get fixed and q lot of people complain about the trigger, but I just think it's neat as shit, and the aftermarket parts are readily available and more importantly extremely easy to install. All I replaced was the safety levers and mine is stock otherwise. Before the pandemic they were going for like 700-800 but now they're up to 12-1300. ________________________________________________

In mid 2018 when I bought mine, I paid almost 1200 bucks brand new from a very reputable LGS in DFW. I have never seen a $700 new Scorpion. Depends on the configuration. I paid around $1200 for my micro like the OP linked to and never saw one for anything close to $800. However I saw the longer barrel pistol version without a stock for $800-$900 IIRC. “Everybody wants a Sig in the sheets but a Glock on the streets.” -bionic218 04-02-2014

I have a LE package version...similar, no faux-suppressor muzzle break, folding brace, etc.. I prefer the folding brace as it locks up tighter than the telescoping brace. Not a fan of the faux-can on the end of the one you linked to. Mine has the fixed sights (prefer those over the flip-up Magpul ones on this gun at least) and with a SIG Romeo4T, a Magpul grip, a trigger spring swap from HBI, and a Rugged Obsidian 9, it's a perfect setup. My two cents, find a folding brace version with CZ iron sights and SBR it if you'd like. ________________ tempus edax rerum
