The Sig P320 and discharges.
Question still stands. Mine isn’t a unicorn. They put some seriously shitty holsters out there for awhile. Unless we are going to pretend I got a one off, which is possible but unlikely. But yea, mine is awful.

I just remembered that I also have a 6280 for a P226 w/M3/TLR-1. I never really paid much attention to the trigger gap on that one because it's a DA/SA pistol and the SLS hood prevents the hammer from being retracted anyway, but looking at it now it's very similar to Pedro's, with a huge opening around the trigger guard and easy access to the trigger. I wonder if the older models were more this way since you could pretty easily get away with it when using a hammer-fired gun, and maybe it took a little while for them to adapt the design to address the concerns of a striker-fired trigger system?

While certainly possible with all manufacturers, the DO was made to be very loose tolerance. Could be crappy QC with an already low standard.

The interesting thing about my current job is I always am amazed at how much better the gear is now than a decade ago.

But, the gap is still a non issue for actual use. If it was this thread would be littered with videos of non-SIGs popping off while holstered. The holster is not the problem.

Edited- I can’t post pictures any longer either. I’ve just about given up on it.

So your stance is that the P320 is going off uncommanded due to an engineering flaw?

One thing to keep in mind. While these incidents seem common because of YouTube magnification, in reality, they are still very rare when you look at the sheer number of pistols out there. A new paint formula used for the center lines of a highway can cause certain types of accidents to increase. The numbers may be incredibly small when you consider the number of cars, trucks and motorcycles that pass by each day but still a measurable increase in accidents. When the P320 was released without a manual/grip/trigger safety, they broke new ground, especially when used as a general issue duty weapon in a lot of different holsters. I don't know if that's a engineering flaw but, IMHO, it's not the best choice for a general issue duty pistol when you have so many other great options.

These kind of stories about mystery discharges in holsters were non-existent on this board or just about anywhere else prior to the P320. If it was discussed, please provide some links. Sure, we discussed the dangers of draw strings and keeping your finger off the trigger when holstering. I'm sure somebody discussed the danger of allowing the hammer to rest on a live round with the old Six shooters. There is not a range in this country without bullet holes on the walls, ceiling and floor. Pushing the theory that there is some great L.E./YouTube conspiracy to cover up anything but P320 firing inside holsters is ridiculous.

You better look again. If there were Glocks going off in the holster like the P320, it would be all over Youtube.

User negligence is a much less exciting story than a "self-firing" pistol, and much harder to sue the manufacturer for, so when somebody shoots themself with a Glock these days the media doesn't care

That’s neither a cover up, nor a conspiracy.

Maybe you should reread the thread? Examples of holstered non-P320 handguns firing have been provided.

I'm not sure where you're getting that, but if it's directed at me then you entirely missed my point.

There's no conspiracy. Just the media and lawyers doing what they always do to sensationalize a situation because that's how they make their money. I don't think they're intentionally suppressing or covering up anything...just putting extra focus on P320 NDs right now compared to those with other guns.

Provide me some links of all the Glocks going off while stepping out of a car or by simply placing their hand on the butt of their pistol. I'll wait.

If I missed your point, 92fstech, I'll retract that comment. Based on some of the comments I've seen many times here, these discharges are always the result of mishandling and a cover-up by the officers involved. While I do believe that can and does happen, I just don't believe all of these people are lying about the circumstances leading to the discharge.

That’s adorable. You made a blatantly false claim, what I said is true. Prove me wrong.

This is a link to a video of a G43 going off after the owner places it in AIWB holster and bends over.

Someone posted this one lowly video a while back. The comments say it looked like a M&P holster.

"It was featured on a news report where I live when they displayed the holster the trigger guard was a different shape than a glock so most likely it was a m&p holsters due to glocks fitting them but not securing....clicking in"

I don't know if it was or not by looking at the video.

Did this guy say the pistol just went off on its own? Did he try to sue Glock or did he realize he had a Plaxico Burress level event and had no chance of a positive outcome in court?
Can anyone here point to a news story or link with more information?

Nobody has been able to demonstrate a P320 discharging without the trigger being pulled.

Bottom line is there is no known defect. From there it is a question of whether some holsters are inadequate, or if the leo duty environment is inherently unsuitable for this design.

We agree. I don't think every person who's experienced one of these discharges is lying. Some certainly are, but I think there are plenty who have no idea what happened and truly believe that the gun just went off on its own. I've seen plenty of situations working on the range or interviewing people who I think legitimately believe that something happened a certain way and don't realize that it didn't until they're confronted with the video. It's the same reason eyewitness accounts often differ in investigations. People are fallible and are also limited to their own individual perspective.

Its a lot easier to determine the truth when you have hard evidence to work with. In the P320 debacle, nobody has actually been able to prove what's going on, so we don't have that.

M&P holster ? That seems weird.
Seems like I saw that it was a G3 holster.
His shirt fouled the trigger.

The problem, for me anyway, is they are going off in conditions other duty guns are not.

He touched the butt of the gun. On video.
A backpack bumped up against it. On video.
He was getting out of a car. On video.
He was walking away from his car. On video.

There no other videos of duty guns going off like that from any other manufacturers.

^^ Of course what you never see is what Dumb Fuckery may have occurred prior to what happened...On video. Similarly, they've never found anything wrong with ANY of the 'holstered' P320 Pistols either!

Of course, for that to work, that same dumb fuckery doesn’t happen with any other duty guns…
