The Sig P320 and discharges.
Sorry to change topics and jump back in the thread a bit, but I've been in Europe for the past two weeks, and looking at cop's duty gear over here made me think of something that's been brought up earlier in this discussion. It's been asked why this only seems to be happening to American cops, even though the 320 is issued to a number of agencies overseas. One thing I've noticed is that I haven't seen a single WML-style duty holster over here. We've been in Turkey, Spain, and Portugal, and I've seen a wide variety of cops (customs, local, district, national, etc.) and every single holster I've seen is non-light bearing. If that holds true most places outside the US, I could see it being a factor in preventing unintended discharges.

On top of that, I wonder how many of them are required to Israeli carry w/o a round chambered.

That's an interesting observation, 92fstech.

I bet there's another cultural factor: they (probably) don't have a plethora of hungry tort lawyers ready to pounce. Bet they don't have interminable Morgan & Morgan, and Dan Newlin ads on their television either.

Nope. Portugal was mostly Glocks. The Spanish carry some kind of Israeli-made Glock clone. I had to look it up because I couldn't identify it on sight. The Turks have their own thing...some kind of polymer pistol that I didn't recognize, and really didn't want to get caught staring, either, because I really got the vibe that creeping out/pissing off a Turkish cop would land you in places that you didn't want to be! Eek

I did have a chance to talk to a German cop who said they're carrying the P30 now, but he started with the P6.

Oh, I still blame the operator. Know your equipment. Be cognizant of it's limitations. Act accordingly.

But a holster that 100% covers the trigger guard will statistically protect against more stupidity than one that does not.

Yea no. Those massive gaps at the trigger guard are problematic. On every level. I have tons of wml’s but only one light bearing holster. That’s because even a dumbass non operator non professional such as myself recognized the fucking stupidity of my high end Safariland wml holster. I own a top shelf holster from perhaps the name in duty holsters and I threw it in a box because having a gap so large I could pull the trigger of a holstered gun easily is stupid. A dingus might be just enough to stop ND’s. My holster might be fine. I am a thinking man and my choice is to avoid an obviously flawed design and concept. To each their own.

I had the Agency Arms safety trigger and springs installed in my custom P320 the other day. One less thing to worry about. Why Sig never did this, after creating such a trigger long ago, is beyond me. Probably didn't want to be viewed as a clone.

I am contemplating a M17/M18 safety install on my P320 MAX. If I am effectively competing with a 1911 type action, maybe just building a safety snick off P320 will minimize ND. At least with a frame safety the P320 will be like my M&P, with the same form of safety.

If you consider yourself to effectively be competing with a 1911 style pistol, may I ask why you wouldn’t consider just using a 1911 or 2011 style pistol? A friend recently purchased SIG’s new 2011 and likes it a great deal and it uses P320 magazines to boot. I’m not trying to stir anything up, I’m legitimately curious, especially considering the positive fanfare that seems to be surrounding SIG’s new entry into the 2011 world.

I am considering a real 1911, and liked the Sig 2011 promoted at the recent green top outdoor expo.

For $200 to add the safety I would at least have a safer P320 rather than a paperweight.

Pretty sure Sig gets a pass on that one going off…

White-Allen, who was arrested on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter and making a false statement, was found dead on base on the morning of Oct. 8.

When I bought my m17 used it came with the agency trigger not installed. The guy never fired the gun.
I had been waiting to see if Sig was going to come out with a tabbed trigger but I guess that’s not happening, so I installed the trigger and springs.
It feels like it’s not quite as light as the factory pull, and like I’ve read if you place your finger too high it won’t activate the trigger.
But all in all it’s ok.

Thread resurrection. Colion Noir just released a podcast episode with Phil Strader who's in charge of the P320 at Sig. It's a long one at 1:12, but would have been a much better place to start instead of "It Ends Now."
