I have a 2007 made P229 in 40 cal. I recently saw Sig has a Pro-Cut Slide Assembly, Optic Ready. https://www.sigsauer.com/p229-...tic-ready-black.html I want to convert my P229 in 40 with this new slide and of course 9mm barrel and magazines. My question is: Are the locking blocks the same? I understand that my P229 has the larger frame that would be equivalent to the newer P229-1 9mm models. Anyone know for sure?

You could buy a conversion barrel, .40 to 9mm. Save some money, but the sights would probably be slightly off. -c1steve

Steve, I could use a conversion barrel, but I do not want to....I want to use the Sig Pro-Cut Slide Assembly.

The locking inserts of the 357/40 P229s and the older 9mm P229s are not the same. A conversion using the 357/40 slide and original locking insert is possible with a 9mm “conversion” barrel that’s designed to fit those parts. I had never before tried the slide of my older 9mm P229 on a 357/40 P229 frame, but I did that just now and it fit fine. The magazine well of the 357/40 P229 is wider than that of the original 9mm P229, and therefore older 9mm magazines are a loose fit. I have no experience with the P229-1 in 9mm, but believe you are correct. I also know nothing about the barrel and locking insert of the P229-1. ► 6.4/93.6

There's a lot of info in this thread... https://sigforum.com/eve/forum...935/m/5050009784/p/1 Your locking insert is the tall version... requires a shorter feed ramped barrel (Conversion barrel). 229 frames are the same size... however, the magwell opening is wider on the 229/40/357 & 229-1. The question becomes what's the measurement between the bottom of the barrel and the top of the guide rod hole in the new pro cut slide?
