Wanted to revive this one. Do I understand this correctly? My P365XL FCU AND slide will work with a Macro grip module and mags?

Everything yes except mags. Your 365 mags are too short to lock into Macro. On the other hand if you buy Macro mags they come with all 3 length base plates so they will fit into all 3 sizes of 365.

My experience with the Macro is the same as sjames. I did the slide exchange and tested it a number of times and decided I liked the Macro. YMMV. I have WC grips for my 365 Short and my 320 and I am looking forward to WC coming up with a Macro grip. The WC grip for the XL is hopefully in the mail.

This is good news. I will grab a Macro grip module and a few mags and play around.

A few mos. ago SIG was running a sale on stainless P365XL slides, so I got one. Now they're making them with rear dovetails, which is what I've always wanted, as I don't like having to use a red dot. They have the newer stainless slides on their site, but are out of stock. As soon as they're back, I'm grabbing one and ditching my Holosun.

I'm still in the undecided camp. The Macro grip module and mags have made the P365 an interesting option to me when it wasn't before, but I've also been carrying my P320 subcompact a lot lately with a small grip module, and I have to say that it's one sweet little gun. It's easy to shoot and easy to carry. It shares mags that I already own with my bigger 320s, and it really doesn't give up much in size and weight to the P365XL/Macro.

If I wasn't already invested in the P320 platform, and already owned a P365 or two, it would be an easier sell. As it stands, though, I'm having a hard time justifying it.

If you like the subcompact 320 and it works well for you, then you have no need for a Macro. For me, at my age, the 320 Sub was too big and too heavy. That's why I switched platforms. If you don't have the need and don't have the desire, don't worry about it.

Yeah, that's the conclusion I'm coming to.

I’ve yet to shoot one but it’s the first SIG in a very very long time that calls to me. It just nestles into the hand so well and it’s almost like a Glock 19 that took up gymnastics and yoga and got all lithe and tight.

My practical judgement side says it’s just another hole puncher that in reality isn’t RADICALLY different in use then any number of other firearms I have and tells me that modern SIG can be a bit of a crap shoot. The devil on my shoulder keeps telling me how amazing of a whole package it is and it’s got all those nifty gimmicks like the FCU etc.

But then I go down the rabbit whole of why not an XL, you can still use the larger mags and still have the FCU.

Who knows maybe one day I will get the bug up my butt to experiment with one, but I will say the 365 series is the best platform I’ve seen from them in a long time.

I've got about 1K rounds through a Macro with a comp and in my opinion, the comp works. During that time, no malfunctions, I've shot FMJ, JHP's, +P and +P+ ammo. I've shot it side by side with a P365XL and I've placed the Macro's comp'd slide on an XL frame.

2 weeks ago I picked up a 2nd Macro Comp. I removed the comp slide and put on an XL slide. I then shot 2 guns side by side, the Macro frame with comp slide and a Macro frame with XL 3.7" slide. The comp works. Follow up shots are quicker with the comp slide.
