I finally picked a Sonny Crockett's gun, sight unseen, for a great price. Only 1 magazine, no box/papers, but it was in pretty good shape for a 40 year old gun (1986). As you can see, there were fine scratches throughout, on both the frame and the slide. I stripped it down and did a little refinishing on my own; I'm very happy with the way it turned out. I even picked up a original magazine off eBay for a decent price (considering).

Love mine, found it online a while back, and it’s definitely not perfect, and I should probably do a little light polish on it like yours…

I had one way back in like 1990, and immediately went and bought the Galco shoulder holster. Traded off the pistol cause young, dumb, and usually broke, but was at least bright enough to keep the shoulder rig!

I need to get a better set of grips. My old one had real nice houge wood grips.

Nice refinish job indeed. I’ll bet that’s going to be a great shooter.

Great gun! Moved one along years ago alongside a 4506 and regretted it pretty soon afterwards. Hopefully I'll come across one or the other again soon.

Great find! I wanted one of those since they came out. Too expensive for me then, was in college. I got an early 4506 a little later on.

Thanks,

You got the Ferrari and the gun, now pick up a Galco Miami Jackass Rig to go with it and you're on your way to being Sonny Crockett!

Bought one back in the day. Damn thing was HUGE & heavy. Good shooter & cool gun. Wish I'd have kept mine.

1986, My first handgun, brings back memories.
My 645 would feed empties straight from the magazine!

I’m sorry I ever traded it… however, I traded it for a Colt King Cobra in 1990.
That’s a great gun as well.

Enjoy fellows!

Still have mine, early production that had the phillips head screw holding the right safety lever on, always would loosen up and drop off, learned the hard way to loctite the living daylights out of it.

I purchased one brand new years ago. Still have it. Heavy, shoots like a dream. I’ll never sell it. I believe the 745 came out around the same time. I would like to get one of those too.

Just picked one up as well but it hasn't arrived yet. I had one in 1986 and like a crazy person I sold it or traded it in the early 90s. Glad to be reacquiring one!

Here's a pretty good video of the gun - a bit of history and a lot of Miami Vice. Cool

Very nice. I owned one in the past. I currently have a 845 and 945. All these old Smiths are great shooters.
