I think it's a new offering. If mags are plentiful and build quality is up to par (or better in the case of fixing the Trailside's flaws), it'll be a nice option

The Trailside never really left. Hammerilli continued to market it as the Exesse or something like that. Maybe Walther is going to be the new importer.

They are great pistols if fed standard velocity ammo. My Trailside was one of my most fun red-dot hosts.

They do have one small design characteristic that might cause a problem if fed too much high velocity fodder. The tab on the pivoting trigger guard that prevents the slide from moving into the disassembly position can break if pounded by too much force (high velocity ammo).

Ive seen an expanded line of these on several other websites. READ the ad carefully....It's described both as .22 short and .22....if it is truly .22 LR it's a deal...if it's a .22 short...i think it'll have a very limited desirability...IMHO.

On the Walther sight it says 22LR.

Looks like these have been around in this configuration for a long time because this video is 11 years old. I wonder who imported it back then?

Mags are $34 each. Looks like Larry’s guns has had them for some time under the Hammerli name in the $900 price range. Now that Walther is the importer looks like prices are dropping.

I could be mistaken, but it was my understanding the pivoting trigger guard in the Trailside could be replaced w/ an equal or more sturdy version in the Exesse?

These aren't new or even new-ish...when Sig stopped carrying them as the Trailside, Walther immediately marketed them as the Xesse (4" and 6" versions, both fixed and adjustable sights).

Hmmm. I have a Sig Hammerli that was billed as capable of Olympic accuracy out of the box. It is, simply, superb, and is my first choice in a .22LR semi-auto. Gets to the range a lot.
Walther is no slouch about making guns, so I would expect theirs to be top quality.

So is this a new gun or just a Xesse stamped Walther instead of Hamererli or SIG?

There was even a shorter version of the Exesse available here in Norway. Called Stenvaag.

The Hämmerli factory was shut down in 2003. SAN took over the production for a couple of years, then sold the brandname and the productionlicenses to Walther. The Hämmerli Xsse/Trailslide is a generic product of the Umarex group and it´s not really know if it´s made by Walther Ulm, Umarex Arnsberg or in a cooperation between the two.
