Absolutely. This incident is totally unrelated to the issue of the P320 being (or not being) drop-safe, and the notion that he had to remove the firing pin to clean the pistol is absurd. The word "firing" is in parentheses, indicating that the writer inserted that word him/herself: ignorant speculation at its finest.

Any time I have a pistol that didn’t go back together properly I load it and sit in my car to dick around with it. It’s the best way to do.

I'm still not following the "the slide went back and fired two times" part.

Meaning he ejected a round and let the firearm go into battery? And it fired, so it still had the magazine in?

My guess is he Glock'd himself. Clear the gun, pull the trigger to take it apart. Forget to remove the magazine and you're going to have a bad day.

Almost right. It is generally helpful to have a few beers so you are good and relaxed when you do this.

That was one of my thoughts as well. It would be interesting to know if had previously carried a Glock. The fact that it’s not necessary to pull the trigger before disassembly isn’t any help if ingrained habits cause us to pull the trigger before disassembly.

6.0/94.0

To operate serious weapons in a serious manner.

Only 1 of the 3 links posted call this weapon a P320. Other 2 make it to be a 320, which it is. Not a P series. Likely bares a A prefix as built by Amish.

It states he discharged his own weapon. Pretty much all I need to know.

That is the reason many departments issue their own sidearm and maintain them with their own trained armorers.
