Looks to have an extremely short recoil system. Wonder how long it will be before spring changes are needed?

The Hudson design is an attempt to lower the bore axis to reduce recoil/muzzle flip which I really appreciate. The insistence on using a 1911 style trigger I view as unnecessary. I have use both direct (1911 style) and pivoting triggers and, while I prefer the 1911 trigger I have no problem with the pivoting design.
My problem with the Hudson design is the mounting of the recoil spring, etc. is so low that it extends well below the barrel, occupying space that is now reserved for all sorts of accessories. Low bore axis designs A La the CZ Shadow are my favorites as they reduce muzzle flip and improve shot to shot recovery. I just think that this can be accomplished without a radical change in the pistol's shape.

I got to handle it at SHOT. Very impressed.

Thanks for reminding me that I should really keep my mouth shut until I at least handle the pistol.

So many of you guys are worried about the lower mounting position of flashlights and etc....
Do you guys honestly mount a light on every gun you have? Seriously really?
I have one on my home defense gun and that's it.

Seriously really. Very seriously really, in fact.
Well, not every single one. Haven't bought a couple of the lights yet. But yes ideally I will have a light on any gun I intend to use for defensive purposes.

So you plan on using the gun for self defense, but have current pistols in the self defense rotation without lights on some already......right. I'm just poking fun at you guys because you will always find something that doesn't meet your standards. Such as having to mount a light on a gun most won't even plan on doing.
No firearm is perfect.

There's nothing wrong with looking to constantly improve one's setup.
I don't have a self defense 'rotation'. I personally think the concept of a rotation is silly, but that's my opinion.
AR for bedside duty, has a light. Pistol in my bag in the truck, has a light. Only one that doesn't currently have one is the one I carry on my person, because nobody makes light bearing holsters for it. It's probably going to be replaced pretty soon anyway.

Carry pistol and HD rifle have lights.
The wheelguns, competition pistols, fun guns, blasters, old stuff w/o a rail, big stuff I don't carry, small stuff that can't take a light for deep cover, hunting rifles, shotguns, all that stuff mostly has no light, or anything mounted to any kind of mounting surface. Some do, most don't.
If I bought an H9 it would be a good while before I even thought about putting it into a defensive role. Even then, a light is going to make an already much heavier than polymer wonder-nine gun like the H9 even heavier. I don't carry my P226, thing is a brick compared to the G19 or P320.

The point isn't that every pistol we use has a light. The point is simply that in the class of pistols in which the Hudson falls, a light rail is standard. The rail is there, but the mounting location does not appear ideal.
I am personally not 100% sure it wouldn't just fine. For sure it is unusual and odd in that respect, but I'd wait to actually mount one and shooting it before I'd condemn it out of hand.
I actually like the looks of the thing myself.

Current pistol light designs require trigger finger actuation. The H9 would require support hand/thumb actuation. I happen to think this may work better.

Uh, no. Activation by the support hand thumb is the method used by a large percentage of shooters, including myself.
I have rather large hands, and yet my trigger finger doesn't even reach the light on a number of my handguns. If I want to activate them one-handed, I have to use the middle finger on my primary hand.

Beat me to it.
Or do I just have a really, really short trigger finger? lol

I agree. Hudson should have just left the damned rail off.

I don't have a self defense gun rotation either, and I also find it silly.

Absolutely I wouldn't even bother trying to carry one of my P226's. Lots of guys do but that gets old quick IMO, even with whatever magical gun belt you're equipped with.

I think it's dangerous if the controls are different.

I'm with you 100%. I "wear" my pistol at my day job. I am NOT going to WEAR a 226, I mean, unless I have a P90 and M2 Carbine w/ bayonet in "my EDC rotation"!

So, the big question...
Can Hudson stand-up a production line and manufacture quantity?
Or, will another company license or buy the design outright?
I also recall that nifty Russian designed (Strike?) pistol that has many unique features as well as a ridiculously low bore axis.

while I don't own any weapon lights, this is one of the few instances where I think the rail improves the guns look if only to maintain the angular design language.
