Looking for at least one factory mag for a 225. All I am seeing is EBay for about $75 plus $10 shipping. Does anybody know where to find factory mags for the 225 that aren't thru the roof? Thanks in advance.

About 15 years ago I bought my first Sig, a P230 and wanted another magazine or two and discovered the going price was about $50 each for the little Iddy biddy things... Sig factory mags ain't cheap.

But I would just take my time and wait,,... they show up here every so often just like everything Sig has made....

Squid $75 could almost be considered a good price today for a P-225/P-6 mag. As suggested check the various firearms sites, might find a seller who hasn't kept up with current prices, under $75 would be a bargain.

FYI if you want to try cutting the mag catch, P.38/P-1 mags are exactly the same body and length IIRC. Last time I bought some they were $11 each but that was a few years ago.

ETA: THIS DOESN’T WORK. P.38 mags won’t feed or function in the P225. You can’t swap the guts/followers either. The P225 follower won’t fit in the P.38 magazine.

Endlessly scrolling through Ebay may work.

Ebay rarely has many P6/P225 type magazines and going rate was about $75 a year ago (and keeps climbing).

Looking now only one P6/P225 magazine is going for $75+$10 shipping + tax and then it goes higher from there, Pro-Mags are total trash and P225A1 magazines don't work in original P6/P225's.

$85-$100 after shipping is the going rate now at least on E-bay.

You can as people say modify P38 magazines to work or modify your gun but I don't recommend that.

P225A1 magazines are changed P239 magazines which is why they don't work in a P6/P225. (different baseplate)

P225A1 is really a P239 in a different outside format which is ultimately why its not very similar to a P6/P225.

P6/P225 magazines got even more rare due to people modifying magazines to work in surplus Star Arms guns that came in during the last few years.

SIG should start making P6/P225 magazines again it'd be money for them if they could sell new ones for $50 etc.

Also start making part kits for all P2XX SIGs, you know support your old products maybe.

At the cost of the mags these days, it almost makes more sense to spend more to get a used gun that comes with some mags.

Normally with surplus stuff patience can win the day but I don't think there's much chance we'll see more of these come to market. These pistols were retired so long ago and the supply of mags has been scarce for some time. So unless someone discovers a forgotten crate in a Kantonspolizei equipment warehouse, I'd say $75 is the best deal, as they'll only get more expensive.

Sig should start making the P225 again. Not sure if it'd be money for them. But it would be cool, would be a carry option for some of us weirdos, and might help with parts sourcing.

Did a search on Ebay of sold P-225/P-6 mags going back to mid Feb '23. Lowest price was $60, a few cheaper for pitted/rusted mags. A few were new in package that sold for $125. At this rate in six months the going rate could be $100.

Thanks for the input and advice. Guess I will keep looking, or pay the price!

A few days ago I remember seeing someone on eBay claiming that they were selling a used factory P225 mag for under $40 (before shipping). Should've bought it but it looks like the mag sold two days ago. Snooze/lose for me but sometimes a decent price will show itself.

I would post the page but I believe that's against the rules, even for completed transactions.

Thanks. I've been scouring EBay. I would have seen that one!

Sig making the P225A-1 with different magazines was a total dick move.

My suggestion is to watch the WTS ads in the classifieds here. Occasionally they pop up for reasonable prices.

Setup a "saved search" on ebay and their system will email you whenever someone lists items for sale.

I found one marked P6 for $10 in a box of spare mags at a gunshop outside Fredericksburg, VA last year. Snatched it up.

I bought the P225 in question in 1995. It is a '90 model, and my first SIG Sauer. I sold it to my dad to raise $$ for a P226 that I wanted. The other day, he told me he couldn't see well enough any more to shoot it, and handed it back to me. I was going to give him the $$ he paid me for it years ago, and he said he didn't want any money. The gun came in it's box with 2 mags when I bought it, and I bought 3 more for it before my dad bought it. I got them on here for something like $15 a piece, IIRC. I got them all back, and just wanted to make it an even six, so I broke down last night and bought one for $85 shipped. Stupid, I know. I probably won't carry it, but I wanted to have a few spare mags for it, as it isn't going anywhere. Thanks for the info on the mags.

Sounds like it’s time to start an e-Mail campaign to Mec-Gar to make a run of magazines for the 225/P6. Not sure how many they would have to sell to make it profitable for them, but we can try!

Squid not stupid even at $85 shipped will appreciate like the three mags you paid $15 each for. The P-225 a modern day classic.

<<snip>>

I thought that when the first A1 came out! After learning more about the A1, I decided I didn't want one at all and will stick to my original W German model.
