Am I being unreasonable?

This is what I was expecting and paid for - specially selected exotic wood grips similar to the ones shown in their picture below -

And this is what I received -

I wouldn't call this specially selected, exotic root walnut. Would you?

There is no try.

I think that's substantially different from what you ordered. Looks like plain old walnut to me.

I agree - I was expecting root walnut or thuya.

Perhaps it was an order fulfillment snafu? Have you tried contacting them about it? Though 12131's comment isn't encouraging Frown

My experience is that KSD grips are a bit of a crapshoot, but I can't say I wasted any money on them.

I ordered a set of custom logo grips for a Husqvarna 1907 [think long slide Colt 1903, in 9mm Browning Long caliber].

They arrived, but were the default logo- not the custom one I ordered.

I contacted them and they admitted their error, and made the correctly afterwards- shipping the second set at no charge to me, while letting me keep the original grips.

So- I ordered the high grain quality custom grips for my CZ 75 PCR/Compact. The grips did look like the wood quality/pattern in the pictures

However, there was a bit of a gap in the wood at the top, when they were installed. Not bad, but enoug to get an envelope under- yet not enough for a 1/4" flat head screwdriver to fit.

I contacted them, sent pictures [at their request], they said they'd get back to me, and never did.

Oh well. The grips don't move, and I can use acraglass bedding to make them fit perfectly.

From my work with wood growing up, I am sure that they just didn't have it quite dried enough from the kiln, and they didn't seal it once they milled the wood.

It seemed like mediocre quality control in the processing from kiln to finished product. Not enough time to allow natural warpage to take place before they milled it to fit.

So- I consider myself to have broken even.

However, the OP here definitely should reach out and complain- using the pictures. This is clearly not what they showed.

WHEN I ordered mine, last summer, the website said the pictures were the actual grips. Now, the new website doesn't say anything like that. Of course, I am not on the KSD USA site- maybe that one is different.

Well, I did contact them - and this is their response. I'll give them another go and see what happens...

" Hello again, we are truly sorry about the result. We are eager to replace that grip if you still willing to give a shot on our grips. I will also tell our Cargo department why they sent such sample while your grips pretty different look from its original picture."
