I Am The Walrus

The one I won in the raffle a couple months ago.

Haven't had a chance to shoot it yet as life has been busy. But a range trip will be soon.

So the question is:

Should I leave it stock or modify it?

I would like to change the grips. Any suggestions? Night sights still have some glow to them. Not sure if I'll carry it very much as it is a bulky gun and with my 5'6", 150 frame, it would be difficult. Would be a great home defense pistol or car gun (our cars are parked in our attached garage every night).

Last time I had a classic Sig was when I sold my 9mm P239 back in 2012 and before that I had a P229 in .40 from 2003-2005. That P229 was a tank, used it for a shooting course firing 1,400 rounds over a weekend without cleaning it. Other pistols during that course such as a couple of 1911's and a Springfield xD had some issues.

Nice and congratulations.

Shoot first. Then decide what to modify.

If you want to change grips, the Hogue G10 Piranha or Checkered will be slimmer and give you more traction than those stock grips.

This was the gun that brought me to this forum. Only recently did I get one, I hesitated because of the reports of extraction issues (with the internal extractors).
It will fit in a P-229R holster, and I think very easy to carry. I've been carrying a P-220 DAK (fullsize) for a few years now, surprisingly easy, I'm of similar build to you.
I've got some DA/SA Hogue Aluminum grips you can try out if you want, they're on a DAK gun, and was thinking of getting the DAK versions of the grips. I love the aluminum grips, even more than the G-10.

Congratulations!

I'd leave it stock. See how it works for you out of the box. Worry about "upgrades" later.

I've shot P220s in the past. I like the platform.

Checkered aluminum grips made it to most of mine.

Among other things to consider would be a short reset kit, fat guide rod, extra mags, & lots of practice.

A light/laser combo or a short reach trigger may help some.

Very nice looking P-220 there.

I am a fan of the Hogue re-checkered factory grips.

Clean it, lube it, shoot it. Repeat as often as possible.

Sweet pistol! Aim high Wink
I have Hogue G10 Piranha's on mine. It really needs nothing extra.
