Picked up P229r .357 Sig police trade in from Sportsmanguide. Login/Join

I picked up a Sig P229r Nitron in .357 Sig today from Sportsman Guide today. Had it shipped to my local dealer including night sights and 3 magazines for just over $500 in excellent condition. I previously owned a P6/225 but foolishly traded it away about seven years ago. I also own a Sig 2340. My plans are to order a .40 S&W barrel because I have lots of .40 from the great Walmart sell off and I own three .40 pistols already.

Indeed. Very clean, and a helluva good deal on it as well!

I love my 229 .357/.40. It was my first handgun in like 2000.

The only thing I wish is that it had a rail like that one!

That is easily rectified you just need to buy the railed version and have a pair.

Superdave65, very nice. Congrats.

As cheap as the .40 pistols tend to be selling......around $400 or so, I'd just buy another 229 in .40, versus spending the money on the barrel, recoil spring, magazines......the gun will always be worth what you paid for it or more.......

Nice score, I've yet to shoot .357 sig.......

Congratulations! That’s an awesome looking gun!

I got a police trade in .357 Sig P229 DAK last year and it’s an amazing gun. The P229 goes with the .357 Sig cartridge perfectly. It’s a blast to shoot.

You don’t have to change the recoil spring or use different mags to shoot .40 from a .357 Sig P229. You literally just need a barrel. I bought a used one for $60 a few months ago.

I’m pretty sure most semi auto pistols chambered in .357 Sig or .40 only require a barrel swap to shoot the other cartridge. I know that Glocks don’t require anything more.

One could even get a 9mm barsto barrel. I tend to agree that 357 sig suited to the 229. Have not shot it in a 226 but one of my 229 is stainless frame and it loves it some 357 sig.

Congratulations on adding a very fine firearm to your stable

That is a great price, what is the story? Was it NEW?

Or some kind of trade in?

That's a very nice and clean looking pistol
The P229 is my favorite pistol.
I am a .40 person but I purchased a .357 barrel off a forum member and I am starting to embellish the round.

I have three already but I have/was looking for a 229 DAK. I have been looking for one of the VA State Police Issued 229 DAK that were traded in when they went to the P320

I both hate to see, and can't wait, for the Police Trade-In Sigs to dry up.

They have really brought down used SIG prices.

Congrats on your P229R, it looks great.

I have both a pre-legacy P229 in 357SIG and a P226 Caliber X-Change kit in 357SIG, to go along with my P226DAK in 40, my P226R in 9mm.
