OttoSigListen to this Maryland Handgun nonsense…
P220 ST just delivered and I can’t take possession until I petition the handgun roster board because P220 Elite Stainless is approved, as is the Match Elite Stainless, and P220 Hunter which is as you might guess, stainless. But my P220ST isn’t approved because ST is engraved after P220 and that means it’s not a P220.
This shit is stupid. Won’t get an answer until Jan 6th.

cslingerWhy specifically January 6th?
I mean all of it is stupid as hell but what is with the exact date of reply??? Also I had not realized MD adopted a roster law. Wow that sucks.

lymanMD is ridiculous on gun laws,
they are one of the states that has a shell casing from each pistol in the state,
all sitting in a warehouse, supposedly with a guard, that sits at a desk at the front door, and have never used a single case for anything,
I have a friend from the La Plata area, that now lives south of Baltimore, and he refused to buy any handgun that is not C&R

iron chefMaryland ended its ballistic fingerprinting program in 2015. After 15 years and $5M+, it failed to help solve a single crime.

David LeeNew York style head games with gun owners. Take them to Court for theft of your property. Illegally in possession of your firearm. Move out of that State Otto.

Oh I'm stationed here, home state is Florida...that will only change when I retire to Montana or comparable state.

I'm stationed at the Pentagon. When I decided to buy a house last year I chose to get much less house for my money in VA to avoid the stupid MD crap. My guns and I happily live together in a shanty. No regrets.

Hey OttoSig I reside in Maryland and I feel your pain!
I use to think about moving across the river to Virginia but there are not what they used to be.

DevereauxCome on down to Texas, guys. We could use some counterpoint for all the buttholes from California moving in.

Do you have a residence in FL, could you have it forwarded to an LGS here and pickup as a FL resident?

Absolutely, easy day, I’ve done that with at least a dozen handguns and long guns while stationed in Korea.
The kicker though is that I have to pick up in person, 15 hours away. And based off shear principle this irritates me as 6-7 models of P220 are approved already, it’s not like I’m trying to buy a belt fed SMG.

There's always WV.

P226RNJust hop across the river to WV. I lived most of my life in that commie state. Worth the commute to have freedom, cheaper housing and friendlier folks.
Sucks about your 220.
If it won't matter in 5 years don't give it more than 5 minutes.

I'll hopefully retire from active duty in 2025 and I'm giving serious consideration to doing this. I planned to stay in the DC area for a few years longer but I really think I'm going to be worn out. My father's family is from Seneca Rocks, WV so I spent a lot of time there growing up and I've always loved WV. I'm already floating the idea to the wife. She's resistant but I think I can sell it.

OttoSigWhile my dream is actually to live in Montana, I’ve been looking in WV also.

Job-wise, going to DC was a great decision. Getting out after it was over was even better.

rainmaker5505I escaped to PA 7 years ago. Things changed a lot in 2013, but its funny that you are having issues with a p220st, as that is the first handgun I purchased at 21 years old, while living in MD. There wasn't an issue besides the stupid wait period and the fired casing required at the time. If I remember correctly, I think MD adopted the Californistan handgun list, or one very similar. With the ST models being out of production at the time the list was created, it probably never made it on there.
