Wait, what? |
I’m only familiar with converting the much easier DAO to da/sa- what parts are necessary to make it happen? Are all 226 frames cut for all options? I have a handful of some internal parts already but not all of what I would need I suspect. Anyone do one before? “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I have seen several people succeed in posting WTTs parts for parts in the classifieds over the years. Seems like someone always wants to swap.

Older P226 frames won’t accept DAK parts, but that’s obviously not what you need to be concerned about. I have never heard of a P226 frame that can’t be converted to DA/SA, but there is at least one P220 frame that can’t be converted from DAK to DA/SA. This frame appears to be compatible with single action only, but not DA/SA. (Note the lack of a hole for the decocking lever bearing.) And FWIW, the Top Gun Supply information is very useful, but the sears used in DAK pistols can be used without exchanging in DA/SA guns. The reverse is not always true; older DA/SA sears may not work in DAK guns, but if the sear is that old, usually the frame is also not DAK compatible. Some people believe a new sear is always necessary when replacing the hammer, but I know of no good reason why that would be true when going from a double action mechanism to single action. ► 6.4/93.6 ___________ “We are Americans …. Why would you want to do this? ____________________

Agency won’t allow DAK for duty carry- DAK pistols are fairly inexpensive, so I need to compile a list of what I need vs. what I have and do the math. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

Not to derail the thread, but why in the ever-lovin’ blue-eyed world not‽ This is the first time I’ve heard of an agency that was obsessed with the type of action in a duty pistol that prohibited any sort of double action only gun; normally it’s the other way because they don’t want guns that are “too easy” to fire. Just when I think I’ve heard it all …. ► 6.4/93.6 ___________ “We are Americans …. ^^^ Couldn’t tell you why, but DA/SA is the only flavor they allow in the Classic pistols. Which is odd as new officers are being issued 320’s. Mine is not to reason why... “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

It would be cheaper to buy a DA/SA. I priced it out a few years ago and I want to say it will be close to $200 to buy the parts.

Yes, not inexpensive normally. As far as trades go, far more people, like the OP, are looking for DA/SA parts than DAK. On the other hand, when SIG finally drops the Classic line entirely, I expect that places like Numrich and CDNN will have DA/SA parts galore for a time. ► 6.4/93.6 ___________ “We are Americans …. Wait, what? |
I won’t have to spring for the whole pile, I already have several in the parts bin. In the end, I’ll pay a good bit less. “Remember to get vaccinated or a vaccinated person might get sick from a virus they got vaccinated against because you’re not vaccinated.” - author unknown

I've done the conversion in both directions many time. Unless you have all the parts (and some are hard to find and/or $$$), you're better off getting SIG to do the $200 conversion or just buy a DA/SA gun to begin with. +++
