Local Sportsmans Warehouse is VERY PROUD of 'the last of the German made SIGs' Login/Join

I live less than a mile from my local Sportsmans Warehouse and check stock often. Last week there were a couple SP2022s in the counter, one of which I paid $500 for just a few years ago, for $1049!!

There also has been an X-Short Classic in the counter for $3000, a really nice pistol actually, but although that may be in line with what online sellers have had them for I am not sure it is worth a 50% premium over my newly acquired Shadow 2 Orange. I guess whatever the market will bear.....

My experience with my local Sportsman Warehouse is odd. I live in Washington State and there is a waiting period.

I saw a nice Beretta 92X compact G model. I bought it and filled out the forms. Over a month has passed and I decided to check on the status. I was told they have to resend the paperwork! I went ahead and asked for a refund. I went to my fave dealer and they happened to have the same model in stock. I got my Beretta 92X compact within 5 business days. My local dealer in Everett located in Airport Road is awesome. They always treat me with respect and they are all professional.

I have bought several firearms, including pistols, at the local SW here in Michigan, still a 'free state', for who knows how long, and although they tend to be a bit slower than my lgs it may take only an hour or so to complete the paperwork process. I find the workers to be very helpful and enthusiastic.

A few years ago doesn't reflect what's going now, which is a completely different market, although I wouldn't pay that much for a SP2022.

That sounds about right. Of course, a few years ago you could have the Classic for about $2k, but that's irrelevant now. And, it's not a good comparison between the Classic (SAO) and the S2O (DA/SA). A more equitable comparison should be the Classic vs the TS2.

For workmanship, I'll give the nod to the Classic. For trigger pull, I'll give the slight edge to the TS2 at 1 lb 11 oz, where the Classic's adjustable trigger at its lightest is 2 & 1/4 lbs (although it has a crispier break). Grips and grip profile go to the TS2 which should fit all but the smallest of hands, although you can adjust the trigger reach on the Classic to fit different trigger finger lengths. The Xgun grips just feel bulkier compared to the CZ. These days, I would pick the TS2 over the Classic, not only because of what I described, but also because aftermarket support for the Xguns are really nonexistent now that SIG Sauer DE is no more forever.

I understand the environment today is a bit different than a couple of years ago, but come on.... A 110% increase in the price of an older design middle of the road pistol??

And I understand that the S2O isn't an exact, direct comparison to an X Short, but it seems to me that the more significant comparison is the 50% premium in the price. The fact that I paid the same price at SW for my S2O that I would have paid a couple of years ago is interesting also.

You make interesting points but with all due respect I think you kind of missed the point of the thread.

Eh...that's a bit optimistic gouging on their part considering that perfectly fine NEW SIGPros are still being made and supplied from Newington. Presuming that those pistols are actual German or Swiss-sourced versions to begin with. Newington was still shipping American SP2022s as of a couple of months ago, which is when we last got a couple ourselves.

Assuming that those two were actual German examples: some might say that "Made in USA" isn't what it used to be or not to the level of those from The Fatherland, but that generally isn't the case when it comes to SIG pistols, particularly long-running models like the SP2022. But some 'collector' probably will sop up the SW hype of 'no more German SIGs' and BUY the darn things anyways.

I can (sort of) understand the ginormous price hikes for the Mastershop pistols, but not for a SIGPro or even the run-of-the-mill classic P-guns like the P226.

As for the gouging on P320s; there's certainly nothing about Newington's own dealer pricing that would justify a markup up to $3000 retail price. That's entirely on Sportsman Werewolfhouse. Where were they buying their SIGs from? Creepier Than Dirt? (That was a backhanded slap at CTD btw for their own past gouging misdeeds, in case you didn't realize that.) When it comes to the polymer SIGs, they've been rolling in from New Hampshire steadily, even with our hefty increases in quantities ordered. In fact they're coming in at a rate they we're now contemplating canceling or cutting back on future quantities, as we've seen a very distinct slowdown in gun sales this past month or two.

As a side example we've already cut some of our Benelli defensive shotgun orders back, as we're now sitting on a ton of M4s that were once flying off our shelves. And yes we stuck to their regular MAP prices during all of that time, which was nearly 1/2 less than what we heard from customers that West Coast Armory and other LGSs were asking for theirs. Which was probably why we were going through so many of those darn M4s in the first place. Oh well...their loss.

Our own shelves have been steadily filling back up. We're still short on some brands like distribution-only Glocks and Rugers, but our costs are still the SAME as they were before Covid was a thing. Even during the worst of their supply shortages we only marked up Glocks by $20 to $30 dollars. And lookie here...we managed to survive.

I kind of understand the high price of the Mastershop pistol as well. Unique & very nice. Just not sure if it is worth that much more than an S2O for me personally.

That same exact pistol sold for $4500 on Gunbroker.com last night. While I agree that the value/cost ratio on the German Mastershop pistols is way out of balance that price is actually a bargain and they will be able to easily sell every one at $3000.

I’m convinced that American shooters will pay 2x-3x for the same quality for anything made in Germany. Take a $1000 pistol and put “made in Germany” on it and you can sell it for $2000.

One thing to note on the Sportsmans Warehouse Mastershop guns is the Import Stamp on the side of the frame.
Nice and easy to see if your into that look.

The MMB Imports, Import stamp is on the bottom of the picatinny rail, where you need to flip the gun over to see it.
Nicely hidden if that is your preference.

“Legacy Sports International, NV” on side of frame, above the Made in Germany stamp.
Sportsman’s Warehouse, Import Stamp.
A bit obnoxious in my opinion.

350zee - On Airport Road, you must be referring to the nice folks at WCAN? If so, a great place purchase (and shoot).

I predict circa 2023-24 after all those 2022 LE contract pistols are retired, we'll be able to snag a LE trade-in for under $300, and a lot of them will have been made in Germany. France alone ordered over 250K of them.

Very.

I would have to really want one before choosing this.

I predict every gendarmerie will purchase their duty SIG Pro.
It's a nice thought to think Classic Firearms will received crates of German SP2022s for the US market.
