I cannot speak to the P290 and while I have heard of the mythical reliable ProMag from stories around the campfire I have NEVER seen a reliable ProMag. -Malfunction trainer check -door stop check -Christmas ornament check -Reliable ammunition feeding device…….notsomuch. Again maybe the P290 ones are the mythical reliable ones and I am sure some folks can give you more info but as a general rule of thumb I would avoid ProMag magazines. Take care, shoot safe. Friends don't let friends buy ProMag. I had one explode on me, that is, when loaded and on the firing line, the base came off and rounds, spring and follower went everywhere. Another simply would not "raise" the follower when rounds were removed. Both were for a 1911. The 'sploder was trashed. The other, as mentioned above, became a quite useful doorstop in my garage.

Does SIG still support this gun? Like Triple K is about the only (other than a rare and expensive OEM, if you can even fine one) source of magazines for oddball and obsolete guns, ProMag might be the only one for this discontinued gun. You might get lucky and find one that works, but I have never had any luck with them myself. Check your vendor's return policy.
