I picked up a 2014 P220, SAS, and want to replace the night sights that are on there now. Looking for some side-by-side comparison in day light and nighttime.

Found this side-by-side comparison with a quick Google.

Siglites on the left 380. Xrays on the right 9mm.

Basically Siglites have green Tritium vials with whites outlines on both front and rear. Xrays have a green tritium vials with no outline on the rear, and a green tritium vial with a large luminescent green ring on the front.

The Xray front sight is a lot more prominent than the Siglite.

In my experience, the Tritium vials in Xray3 sights degrade a lot faster than Siglites. I have Siglites that are 10+ years-old that are brighter than Xray3s after three years. I've also had to warranty a couple of Xray3s that went completely dead before two years.

I prefer the daytime sight picture of Xray3s, but I don't trust the longevity of their Tritium. I haven't bought any recent production Siglites, so I couldn't say if their quality has dropped off.

I agree with chef when it comes to longevity of the X-ray sights, as they are not very good.

Just adding my 2 cents, but you might consider another brand if you have aging eyes. I say that as I bought a couple front sights for pistols I own, a couple of Glocks and replaced the front sights with those of color. They are still night sights but one has an orange ring around the tritium and a yellow ring on the other and I much prefer the orange. The orange outline is much easier to see in the daylight and indoors and stands out compared to white, green or yellow.

My recommendation is if you want NS, get something aftermarket. There are several high quality brands I'd get over Sig OEM.

E.g., Trijicon, AmeriGlo TruGlo, Night Fision, XS, Meprolight... unless the Sig NS were dirt cheap, which I've seen before in our Classifieds section.

Siglites are made by Meprolight if I recall correctly.

Not sure who is making the Xray sights for Sig.

The one X-Ray3 sight I just checked is marked “TG,” which I assume refers to TruGlo.

I have XRay sights on my P365 and really do not like them. I find them hard to pick up quickly day or night!

What I strongly prefer is the TruGlo sights that I have on my P225; orange ring up front and white on the back... they're also much brighter than the XRays despite being several years older!

I think you're onto something. I have several Sigs w/ Xray3 sights, so I went through to check their markings.

The ones marked "TG H3" are consistently brighter than the ones w/ different markings. Some of the other markings include "SIG H3" on the front sight and "628" on the rear sights. My XMacro was made in Dec 2023 and has Xray3s w/ "SIG H3" & "628" on them. I have other Sigs made in 2018-2019 w/ sights marked "TG H3", and they are brighter than the ones on my Macro despite being older.

We know Sig uses multiple manufacturers for the same small parts, so I suspect they do the same w/ their NS. "TG" probably is for TruGlo. I have other TruGlo sights, and they are similarly as bright as my "TG" Xray3s.
