Ok so that’s a bit tongue in cheek as I prefer my tactical Tupperware and I’m actually carrying an itty bitty 9 as I type this. I am not even old enough to shake my fist at clouds….yet. ![]() Seriously though I came across an EDC pic from “back in the day”. Full size, all metal SIG P226. I can carry like 12 P365’s in this footprint ![]() ![]() Take Care, Shoot Safe, Chris

And you could use Thor's Hammer [Indestructible Nokia] as a defensive weapon when you run empty. The Enemy's gate is down.

I don’t consider myself that old, but easily recall when choices in a CCW pistol were a revolver ( predominantly S&W) a 1911 or high power. The odd man out back then was a S&W 39 or 59.

Nice rig. I literally ran over my new Nokia brick with my truck the day I got it... fell out of my pocket. Worked fine for 4 years until I traded it --------------------------- My hovercraft is full of eels.

I love carrying my fantastic plastic, but there is something about a metal framed gun in leather! _______________

Had both. The Star Tac took a swim a few times & kept on working. The Nokia would get really hot on a long call The Enemy's gate is down.

Let me see... I have the exact same set-up for my P-226, It also worked for my P-220. Then it went to a G-21 or G-30. Surefire Executive Flashlight (the one with the knurled bezel & tailcap) and a pair of handcuffs on occasion. There's my 1911, and a BHP prior to being the Police. The "police" thing, I've only been doing it since 1995... That aint that long. ______________________________________________________________________ "When its time to shoot, shoot. Young folks have it good these days! Why I can remember back when we private citizens were not permitted to legally carry in my current state, or native state. Maybe if'n our last name matched the Governor's, or carried large sums of money, etc. we may have had a chance...

My first off duty carry in 1989 was a 4 inch GP100. Very comforting to carry, just not very comfortable. Because son, it is what you are supposed to do.

Back in the Day, I carried a Wilson Master Grade 130 on duty in a Milt Sparks custom built duty holster. (I had connections) and off duty in a milt Sparks Roadrunner under a BDU top with the sleeves torn off. A pocket full of quarters and, knew where every pay phone was in my beat with a cable long enough to reach inside the car. Then. I was living large when I got an Oakie Bag phone. Seat belted into the passenger seat.

^^^ Love the Roadrunner! I was happy to find out about that holster well after the fact a few years ago and to discover that the Milt Sparks shop still crafted them on-request (for a very short list of handguns). It remains my favorite OWB option for a full-size 1911. Today, I’m prone to carry either a SIG P226 or 229R if not carrying an N-frame S&W. Prepared for the Worst, Providing the Best![]() |
![]() Not too far off what I was carrying just a couple of years ago. The P245 mostly lives in the safe now but P229 still goes into that holster every now and then if I'm going to some kind of plainclothes/classroom training day at work. I did finally get a black mag carrier to match, though, lol. I miss those Nokia brick phones. Lots of buddies had them in High School, and we spent a lot of time playing snake. Nothing compared to the amount of time I waste on a smartphone these days, though. In some ways I wish I could go back. Even the dang keys have gotten bigger, first with embedded chips and now with the fobs. My first car (Chevy) had two normal-sized ones...square one for the ignition and oval one for the doors.

It's all part of the adventure... |
Back in the early ‘90’s when I first started carrying, I carried a Ruger P89DC in a Galco Fletch holster with a spare mag or two. No cell phone at that time, though; that came in ‘94-‘95 time frame. It was one of those Motorola flip phones. P239 was my first carry gun. Bit more compact than what you lugged around. ---------------------------------- Don't believe everything you think.
