To Expert308 if you get a G43 and use a Taran Tactical +1 or +2 floorplate it makes a lot of difference if you think the grip is too short.

The Glock 43 is an impressive, easy-to-conceal pistol. Mine has been totally reliable and it's a fine handgun. No failures after nearly 1000 rounds. Highly recommended. Highly customizable.

My Shield .45 recoils LESS than my W. German P220, holds as many rounds, weighs substantially less, is half the size, and is a marvel of engineering. I don't know what S&W did to make it recoil so lightly, but it's unbelievable. The accuracy for a polymer compact is uncanny, and right up there with a Gen 3 G26. Everything about the Shield .45 is functional and first-class. FWIW, I give it my highest recommendation.

This is exactly me. I'm very smitten with my Shield 9 1.0 as my CCW.

I stopped by Sportsmans Warehouse this afternoon and played with a G43, an XD-e and a Shield 2.0. They didn't have the XD-s or the PPS M2. I didn't like the feel of the grip frame on the XD-e, and its trigger was the heaviest of the three. I had expected a hammer gun to have a lighter trigger than a striker gun so that was a surprise. Bottom line, the XD-e is eliminated. Both the G43 and the Shield felt very good. Both were easy to rack and otherwise manipulate, and felt good in the hand. The Shield's trigger was a little crisper, but I think the G43 trigger was a shade lighter. Both were pretty good, just different. Either would be fine in a carry gun.

Thanks, I'll look into that. One mark against the G43 was the lack of a +1 magazine. The grip on the G43 actually fit me pretty well with the pinky tab on the 6rd mag.

I need to go to another store and check out the PPS M2. Then wait and see how much damage the holiday ends up doing to my budget.

I've been happy with my M&P Shield in .45ACP. The grip fits me. The 9mm and .40 models ha a trigger guard that cut into my middle finger.

I've got a Glock 36 sitting right next to me. It's Glocks first single stack pistol, IIRC.
45 ACP.

The G36 is not exactly the lightest and smallest thing around, but if you want a 45 punch....it's small enough for me.

Bonus: it's a Glock. Enough said.

I like all three of the above.

I carry a Gen1 9mm Shield and love it. But I recently got a P320 Subcompact and am rapidly falling for it too!

Twelve rounds in a similar package; I might make a change soon...

Ooh! Ooh! Ooh! Thanks, I hadn't heard about that. Actually, looking at the specs, the weight for the Commander version is only a few ounces less than my steel-framed Commander. 28.8 vs 36.5, or about par with an alloy-framed gun. The other guns I've been looking at all run between 18 and 21.5. I'm going to have to noodle on this for a bit.
