My dislike for .40 has nothing to do with the recoil. It's mostly a matter of logistics, and slightly of capacity. I like to shoot my carry gun a lot, and 9mm is just cheaper and simpler to stock these days. It's also a hard sell to go with fewer rounds of .40 in a given handgun when the terminal ballistics are basically the same.

Ok guys, I want to thank everyone for their comments and opinions. I did win the bid on a P239 Two Tone on gun broker. No one bid against me so I got it for the starting bid however with all the fees and shipping, out the door to my FFL was $690. Seems much higher than had I’d been looking for this a couple years ago but oh well it’s what I wanted. It seems from the GB statement and pictures, to be unmolested, in factory original configuration. With that said, I think I’d like to do the SRT but how do I know if it’s not already been done/installed ?? Where is the best place to get the SRT kit, is it a kit ?? Also, what exactly is DAK, I’m not familiar with that. Do you do or recommend doing, both the SRT and DAK ?? I do understand from my reading, the SRT is a pretty simple DYI operation so I’m confident I can do that myself but any tips or cautions would be appreciated. Again thanks to everyone. Larry

So the 239 you won is a standard DA/SA configuration? If it were me, I'd leave that alone and not bother with DAK. All of my Sigs are DA/SA (except for one 224 in DAK but that's another story). Not sure on where to source a SRT for a 239 now, I know sigsauer.com doesn't have them. Congrats on the purchase, I own 3 P239's and am a fan.

Im thinking he has a DAK...?
I hear great things about them and wish I had a chance to shoot one.
I'm not going to try to describe how DAK works but I'm sure someone will drop and and explain the workings.

the 239 is one of the best guns SIG has ever made. Doesn't add up on paper,(size, weight, ammo) but it's a slim carry pistol that shoots just like a full sized pistol.
The DAK in the 239 isn't that great, I had one, the geometry of the parts means the sweet double action you get in a P220 or P226 DAK isn't that much better than the standard double action the DA/SA P239, and the first reset wasn't great at all. I have a P220 DAK, and have had a P229, and P239, the P220 DAK is one of my favorite triggers for a carry gun, really wish the P239 DAK was better.
I currently have two Dans ammo P239s in 9mm, and a 357 SIG from around 2008.

still have one in my daily CCW and I was able to find a Safari land 6378 Hollister for it. It’s one of the most comfortable guns to carry and shoot and 7 to 8 rounds is enough.

I'd like to make two points.

First, people who compare 40 to 9mm should instead be comparing 40 to 45. They have similar muzzle energy and they both leave 9mm in the dust in that regard (muzzle energy). And who knows which type of projectile will work better since we don't know what the bullet will have to go through.

I liked my 239/40 until I shot a P2000/40. Notwithstanding capacity I was amazed at the lighter pistol having less felt recoil...Tom

I carried a DAK P239 SAS for a couple of years.
Had CCR do some refinishing work on it a couple of times.

I believe it was one of the last of the 1st Gen SAS P239s, or at least my FFL told me it was.

In the end, with Nills and a Garrity custom holster..

Sold it when I started carrying Glocks.

Got a two tone 9mm DA/SA beside me right now. I've always liked them. And I think the SAS/DAK first gen is one of the best looking pistols Sig made.

I picked up a P239/.40 about 20 years ago and carried it for a couple of years. It is an all satin stainless from April 2005 back when SIG had GOTM/ gun of the month. My P239/.40 story is similar to many in this thread, it got dropped from the rotation for a lighter 9mm carry gun with more rounds. I still have an affinity for the 239, can't bring myself to sell it, but it hasn't been out of the safe in a dozen years.

The April 05 GOTM has a satin nickel finish. The slide is stainless, but it has an alloy frame. I have one as well.

I have one in 9mm that I got not too long after they were introduced. Still carry it sometimes. Over the years, I have squirreled away around 20 mags for it. They have gotten expensive!

Well. You can’t do both. DAK is a very smooth fairly short double action only trigger system that I am very fond of. Does the gun you bought have a decocker? If so, it’s Traditional DA/SA.

If it doesn’t, it could be DAK or, simply DA only.

Well. You can’t do both. DAK is a very smooth fairly short double action only trigger system that I am very fond of. Does the gun you bought have a decocker? If so, it’s Traditional DA/SA.

If it doesn’t, it could be DAK or, simply DA only.

DAK: DAK rounded hammer no decocker

DA/SA: spurred hammer with decocker

DAO: spurred hammer, no decocker

Mine has the decocker, so DA/SA. Two Tone including stainless controls and trigger so it looks just like the one in the above post from got2hav1 only in 40. Just got a IWB desantis holster and a 3rd mag for it. Just waiting to get to the range and test it out. Still waiting on the Hogue finger grove grip to come in and thinking about changing the guide rod to a stainless one.

I've carrieda p239 40 for years. Picked up a 2nd in 357mag. Let my son who just got back from the navy try my p239(.40) p229(9mm) and p224(9mm). Sh shot the p239 the best and loved the .40. It also disappears on his thin frame iwb carrying.
