For a while I was scooping up everything I saw that was reasonably priced, but things have changed a bit for me and now I want to trim the collection down a bit. I have the following: P6 (mil version of P225) P228 (old school folded steel slide) P229 9mm (no rail) P229 40 (rail) P220 carry I kinda feel like I could live with the 229/9mm (like without rail) and 220 but I love them all. Opinions or talk me into/out of anything else (i.e should I keep the 228 because it's better than the 229?)

I'd say don't sell, but if you absolutely must... I would say keep the P228 and the P229 in 9mm. Both are excellent and one can serve as backup to the other. The first one I'd get rid of is the P229 in .40. It's a clunky caliber that offers little benefit over the 9 and a lot of drawbacks. My .40 P229 is a lot clunkier and heavier than my 9mm. I'm keeping the .40 for sentimental reasons, but it's probably my least favorite of all the Sigs I own. The P6 is next on the chopping block. The grip on those guns is awesome, but the triggers tend to suck and the single-stack capacity, expensive mags, and issues feeding hollow-points that some exhibit make it an impractical choice, especially compared to a P228 or P229. I have one that I like, but I've done a lot of work to make it into more of a P225 than a P6, and I still never carry it anymore because I can't feel the difference between it and the P228/P229. The P220 is a tough one. A huge benefit it provides is the the ability to shoot .45. I also love the feeling of a P220 grip. I'd rather have a compact or a full-size than the carry, though...if I'm going to deal with concealing a full grip I want all the sight radius and the longer recoil system. Also, as much as I love the .45, 9mm makes more sense as a carry caliber. I'd still have a hard time selling it, though, and would probably keep three! Not sure if yours has the rail or not...if it does it would make a good HD option with a WML mounted.

P228 for your do all carry gun and Either P229 .40 because of the rail and it gives you another caliber option as well as the fact the P229 is sublime in .40. Or P220 carry. Again caliber options, a rail and well “the Lord’s Caliber” My two cents but it’s been a rough week so I’m probably not thinking straight. I do however still like a good .40 so I might just be damaged in general. "Guns are tools. The only weapon ever created was man."

If it were me, I'd keep the P228 and P229 (9mm). Two is one. One is none. I'd use the P228 for HD/carry and the P229 for the range/training.

I am not a lover of the .40, but I'll give you this...if I have to have one, the P229 is definitely the one to have!

Nine is fine, but high-cap nine is even better. You know which two. Q

I would keep the P6 and P228. Sometimes, you gotta roll the hard six

I'd keep a 9 and 45, specifically the 228 and 220 Carry. No car is as much fun to drive, as any motorcycle is to ride.

I see a pretty solid trend so far - stick with 9mm. I went ridiculous on the 13rd zipper mags, bought like 15 of them I have 3 40s and 3 45s - I could easily be talked out of the 229/40. The P220 is second only to my Kimber, but I could make due with just the Kimber (same capacity, 1911 is more accurate in my hands) Keep it coming...awesome feedback and insight so far!

I swear I had something for this |
I could get you down to three by losing the P220 Carry and the P229 9mm. The P6 is a historical piece that's worth leaving in the safe and to a lesser degree, so os the P228. The P229 in .40 is an easy one to keep because you can buy a .357 SIG barrel and a 9mm conversion barrel and have 3 guns in one. It's the only one that can do that.

228, 229 9mm keep. Sam caliber, same form, near same handling. Possible conversion on the .40 to 9mm. All of that above if you want to narrow and be most efficient, effective from a "mechanical/clinical" point of view. (9mm no rail is a great carry gun.) Second, as stated, ditch the .40 and stick with the 9mm, and .45 ACP. That gives you some variation for the "nice to have variety" POV. For the most narrowed, achieving your OP goal, and still some variety in life, keep the P228 and the P220 and move the rest. 228 and 220. Why have two nine's, when the one will always be your first choice anyway. Keep the best 9 and a good 45.

Outside of a range toy, I have no use for a single stack. Personally, I think the P229 is a better pistol than the P228. And parts for the P228 are really hard to find. I’d say keep the P229 in 9mm and sell the rest. Buy a P365. Then you’ll have two SIGs. ------------------------------------------------ Charter member of the vast, right-wing conspiracy

I have a P225 but almost never shoot it. I'd go with the P228 and P229 in 9 mm. _________________________ “Remember, remember the fifth of November!"

I like to have diversity as far as ammo. I vote for the P228 and either the P229 40 or the P220 Carry. At least the 40 can be converted easily to 357 or 9 if desired.

Keep anything not easily replaceable. In your case, the 228 and P6. The rest can be bought again if you need or want to... A Perpetual Disappointment...
