Great deal at the LGS - Beretta Login/Join

One of my favorite LGS is selling the Beretta APX A1 Compact for $279 (not a typo) right now. This is the updated model and comes with a RDS cutout, improved trigger, no more Toblerone serrations, and can now use the same sights as a Beretta 92, etc. For those wondering, it does not have the long double action type trigger like the APX A1 Carry/Nano and has a true striker fired action. The compact is designed to compete with Glock 19 and similar sized handguns.

Because of the Nano’s long trigger, which was Beretta’s first real venture into the modern polymer striker fired market, I think most people don’t even think about the APX series. However, it really is an overlooked model in my opinion. Granted, the trigger isn’t as good as a Walther PPQ/PDP or HK’s VP9 series but it is as good as a Glock or Ruger RXM. I don’t know if this is unique to my LGS, but if you are looking for a striker fired pistol right now, I’d see what they are selling for in your area.

I’ve seen similar pricing for the “Carry/Nano” model but never for the “Compact.”

Its a great gun, I got the A1 some years ago when they had a big discount going. $270 is an amazing deal wo I would jump on it.

That’s a great price for any solid striker gun. I like my APX A1 compact though I like nearly every striker gun I have more. It’s not cause it’s a bad gun, it has good economics, excellent fit and finish overall, and a decent trigger. Might has been 100% reliable and is fairly accurate though for some reason I just don’t find myself grabbing for it very often and much prefer Glocks, HK, Sig, Smith and Wesson, among other guns to shoot before the APX A1. If I had not picked mine up for about $350 after rebate I probably wouldn’t have paid much more.

They’re excellent pistols in both the compact and full-size varieties (I never warmed up to the Carry). I just found nothing particularly outstanding about them. For Glock-style striker-fired pistols, the Steyr M (RIP) still tops my chart, followed closely by the HK VP9 and the Walthers (P99 QA, PPQ, and PDP). As always, a standard Glock will also work for me just fine, but the rest do absolutely nothing for me, excellent they may be.

Most of the above is based on my own subjective preferences. For anyone looking for an excellent Glock-style pistol, I don’t hesitate to recommend the APX by any objective metric.

Have both the full size and compact. They’ve been heavily discounted for a couple of years. In addition to being low priced Beretta also had rebates, typically $50 or $100(don’t know if any rebates now).

Ergos are excellent, triggers are average, though the compact’s is better than full size (others online state that as well). Beretta made mounting plates for optics are often sold out but there are good aftermarket options. Do not use the screws supplied by Beretta to mount their plate, they are soft and hex will strip easily (IMO, all mounting screws should be torx).

Mine ran $250 to $300 after rebates. Great deals. Triggers get better with use.

I've never had a chance to shoot one. I will say that all the ones I've handled have just been....Meh. I mean like was said above I am sure they do everything a modern striker fired pistol should do and at the prices offered I would certainly scoop one up vs. others in the price range but vs. what I have or have access too.....meh? I don't do "car/truck" guns that are left in a vehicle (nor do I suggest it) but if I did, I guess this would fit the bill.

I stopped by the local pawn shop as a lark. The owner has been vocal about not taking in P320. I bought one a few months back. As soon as I walked in, he asked if I wanted his last P320 compact. It was an X-compact with nightsights, flat trigger, 4-15 round magazines and a box.

I said I saw one at the gun shop in McDonough for $350. What do you want for it? He said $300 out the door. I said throw in a pmag and you got a deal. He said sold!

There are deals out there right now. Unless you are in a state with pending restriction like Virginia a few weeks ago, the inventory is quite fat out there.

That shop in McDonough had Taurus PT92 for $199. The Sig P320 for $350. Zev P320 for $599. Beretta 84 for $269. They had a Rohr .32 revolver for $20. I should have bought it for a paperweight.
