Does anyone have any experience with Act mags for the P320 17 rd series? Just purchased a few from Greg Cote , but wondering if there are any pros or cons on quality and or reliability.
Any info is appreciated! This message has been edited. Last edited by: Rotty37,
In the past ACT magazines did have a reputation for cracking. A lot of the web reports centered on .45 caliber in 1911 and P220 mag form. I've a small handful for my P220s; so far they've held up but honestly I don't have a ton of rounds through them, maybe 400 or so apiece through two, and probably less than half that for each of the other two, which were bought later. Likely all usage was with 230gr standard ball ammo. No higher pressure loads as far as I can remember.

I didn't even know ACT-MAG was making P320 Mags. I have some of their P220 Magazines, and I honestly can't tell the difference between them and my factory 220 Mags, apart from the rollmarks. They have been perfect. I'll be interested to hear how the 320 variant works for you.

I have at least a dozen and I have never had an issue in 3 different P320s. For the price, they are a viable option for range mags and backups. I stick with factory mags for defensive purposes as I have plenty of those as well.
Price is the biggest pro and the reason I bought them along with knowing ACT makes quality mags. No cons for me.

I've bought several orders from Mr. Cote, of the Armscor P320 17 round magazines, and use them that way, and with the Taran Tactical bases on them. They run just fine. I haven't had a single issue with them. I probably have several dozen of them now.
I bought some from Cote as well and have no complaints. ACT makes a good product and I have a few different types of their mags for my Beretta and Sig. I have used the Beretta ones for years without issue. I can't believe that the P320 mags will have a problem as my Beretta mags have been perfect. They even produce OEM mags for a few brands and from I have read prior, I believe MEC-GAR,ACT-MAG,Beretta and a couple others were/are headquartered in the same part of Italy. In fact my P320 M18 came with x2 mags "Made in Italy", so I wonder who made them.
Thanks for all the advice guys!! I just ordered some from Greg Cote's website since I couldn't find any OEM 17rds anywhere in stock and figured to give them a try.
I will report as soon as I get them and give them some range time soon.
I grabbed one of the ACT mags to check, and sure enough, it does say, "Made in Italy" on the mag body.
These have a shiny, blued appearance, with witness holes on the right side for 5, 10, 15, and 17 rounds. They feature a black follower, and a black plastic base with square insert and beveled dog ears, and they work find in the standard, x-frame, and wilson grip modules. They'll also take the standard after market baseplates or mag extensions.
^^^The ACT Mags for the P320 are VERY similar (appearance & performance wise) to the shiny blued Mec-Gar mags for the P226 & P228/P229 that were/are the go to preferred mags for many SIG owners. I purchased five of them P320 ACT Mags from Greg Cote several months ago as I much prefer the SIG 'Made in Italy' mags and none were to be found anywhere! I'm VERY impressed with the performance of the ACT Mags....ZERO Issues!

Just wanted to update! I received 3 P320 ACT mags from Greg Cote. These magazines are very impressive and very high quality. These are very similar to OEM and also " Made in Italy". Here are pics of the ACT mags for P320. Hopefully, the pics show the quality.
I just seated a Taran Tactical +5 base on one of the ACT mags yesterday. It didn't fit as securely, and has a slight rattle and play that the factory mags don't...but it's functional and the mag body is half the price...a consideration if one is going to pick up several dozen.
