I am looking to have a P220 stainless (internal extractor if that makes a difference) refinished. Which finish would be the most durable: CCR Dusk or Nitron? I believe Dusk would be more attractive appearance wise. Anyone with both finishes, please feel free to post a side by side pic. Thanks!

Dusk is CPII with the "Dusk" color added. So, since it is CPII, it is very wear resistant. Great stuff. The Dusk appearance can vary from gun to gun. Sometimes, it can be non-uniform even on the same gun, at least that was my experience with their original Dusk. It may be uniform now, may be CCR can confirm that.

Nitron, well, is also tough as nail. And the color is uniform.

If you want factory finish, go Nitron, of course. If you don't care, then flip the coin.

It would be worth your while to call up SIG CS and ask them how they think the Nitron would turn out on top of the stainless slide. I sent in a 220 Match stainless slide and had SIG Nitron it. SIG CS told me that there was already some kind of finish on the stainless slide and that they couldn't be sure I'd be perfectly happy with how the Nitron would interact with it.

I was certainly satisfied with the result, but I don't think it came out quite as uniform and deep as the finish of a slide that was Nitroned at the factory to begin with. Having said that, it was certainly good enough that I'm planning on doing it again with another slide.

Scuttlebutt is that Gray Guns might've collaborated with CCR on what Gray Guns calls it's "Superblack" finish. I had another 220 slide given the Superblack, and it came out beautifully. CCR has given me excellent work on other guns in the past, and I certainly wouldn't hesitate to ask them to do the work for me that you want done on your slide.

This is my P226 SL SO that was all natural stainless originally that I had SIG do their DLC Nitron on the slide. Came out beautifully.

I’m leaning toward the nitron finish. I really like the way it has held up on my other Sigs, but I wasn’t sure how the Dusk compared. Beautiful P226, Q! Thank you for the replies.

We have since changed the Dusk process and have been getting great results

That looks GREAT! I had a pistol done in your first version of CPII "Dusk" awhile back and this certainly looks like a major improvement. I have a P35 .40 S&W that's got some sort of "baked on" factory finish that I'd like to have replaced. Is that a major thing to do if I want to upgrade with CPII "Dusk"?

Another option is send it to Club Custom Guns in Denton,NC, who handles Ion Bond DLC, which is basically Nitron.
Some color choices, and textures, available.
The Satin DLC resembles bead blast bluing, and the matte DLC resembles Nitron, early Glock slides.

I prefer this over any other treatment, and have had good results from this gunshop.

I got new "new" Dusk on my BHP. Super consistent and tough.

On average, about a month, sometimes less. Denton, NC is near Greensboro,NC where I understand Ion Bond has a facility.

About $130 including shipping for standard black, bare slide sent in. $342 ,standard black, parts, disassembled, , for a complete steel pistol.

Thanks. According to their website, they are Ion Bond authorized agent. So, that is reassuring.

I decided to go with Nitron, which I believe is Ionbond. After I get it back from Sig it will go to Gray Guns for some work. Thank you guys for the input!

Had Club Custom Guns do an IONBOND re-finish (matte) on my Dan Wesson Valor.
Outstanding work, great service, good communication, turn around about 3 weeks.
What's not to like???
