Never shot .38 Super, but own 2 colt government 1911's and have owned 2 other Colts, Also currently own a S+W, Ed Brown, and Wilson Combat. Have shot a dozen other Colts over the years.
I bought a Colt Competition 9mm in S/S when they first came out 2 years ago. Mine is serial number 32x, sight unseen. It is the best put together Colt I have ever handled. Both the Barrel bushing fit and the slide to frame fit are as tight as my Wilson or Brown. Gun is very accurate, finish is perfect. The only thing I could find with it, is the grip safety has a bit side to side play and trigger has a little up and down play. Most would not notice it. Trigger is crisp on it but a tad heavier than my Brown or WC, I'd guess 5-6 lbs as advertised as I don't have a trigger pull gauge. Anyways, gun functions perfectly, is very accurate and I wouldn't hesitate to buy another new Colt 1911 sight unseen, for $850 that I paid for it, it's a great gun.
I have a blued Colt Competition in 38 Super. After the third trip back to Colt to get it working right. It is a nice pistol. I don't like it near as much as my Dan Wesson Guardian in 38 Super.
Rom 13:4 If you do evil, be afraid. For he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is God's minister, an avenger to execute wrath on him who practices evil.
